What type of load have you guys built up that runs well through the trg22?

I'm working with IMR 4064 powder and hornady amaxs for now, but I was looking for some guidance on a solid load to work off of.

Re: calling out sako trg22 308 owners who reload

If you go with a 175 SMK you can't go wrong with around 44 grains Varget loaded .020" off the lands. Some like a bit more some a bit less but that seems to be a general sweet spot. I haven't used IMR 4064 so can't comment loads for that powder.

Re: calling out sako trg22 308 owners who reload

I'm really liking 46.5gr Varget, Fed GM210M, Lapua brass, 155 SMK Palma. It was a touch squirrely over 1000 yards in wind the couple times I took it there. Laser beams out to 800 with 6.0 mil dope with mild recoil.

No signs of pressure in up to 85F, but I might back off & test against 46.0gr now that the summer is here.

40 grains? What is that running around 2300-2350 out of a 20" barrel?

Re: calling out sako trg22 308 owners who reload

I am running 43 grains of varget, lapua brass, cci primer, 175 ncc, .010" jump, 2500 fps with a 20"

Re: calling out sako trg22 308 owners who reload

The old Palma load of 45.3 Varget and a 155 SMK hammers. The 155 Amax does same. I have a 26".

Re: calling out sako trg22 308 owners who reload

45gr of Varget with the 175gr SMKs seated at 2.830. Pushing 2615FPS with low single digit SD's out of my 18" TRG. 46.3gr of Varget with the 155gr Scenars will also produce 1 holers on my TRG.

I would imagine 40grs is dirt slow for the 175s. It might be the low node of accuracy.

Re: calling out sako trg22 308 owners who reload

44.8 gr. of Varget with Lapua brass, CCI 200 primers pushing 175 SMKs seated at 2.810. No chrono, but as close as I can guess working it backwards I think I'm around 2675 fps. out of a 26 inch barrel.

seems like varget is the powder of choice here. No one runs 4064?

That was a typo, I meant 44 grains of Varget. I updated my post to reflect that as well.

Re: calling out sako trg22 308 owners who reload

This is the load I use in my TRG-22,FN-SPR,Kimber Advanced Tactical Rifle and my 700P. All rifles will group 10 rounds in 1/2 to 3/4 all day long if I do my part.

lapua brass (full benchrest prep)
CCI BR-2 primers
43.5 IMR-4064
Nosler 168 Custom Comp bullets
2.825 oal.

Re: calling out sako trg22 308 owners who reload

45 gr of varget in win brass with a 175 SMK @2.825" any large rifle primers will do and it good to go to 1000yds.

Re: calling out sako trg22 308 owners who reload

I have several:
short range work (600 or in) =
168g 0.010" off SMK w/ 42g N140 210GM in Lapua (drills holes)
Long range (have taken out to around 1130YDS) =
175g SMK 0.010" off w/ 43.5g Varget 210GM Lapua (1/4-1/2 MOA)
*175g SMK 0.010" off w/ 44g RL15 210GM Lapua (drills holes)
178g AMAX 0.010" off w/ 43.5g Varget 210GM Lapua (1/4-1/2 MOA)

*I just switched to this load and need to see what it does in the summer. So far it is a bit better than the others.
