Hello guys, this is my first posting here and I was wondering if you can help me. I just started reloading with 308, after many hurdles I finaly got to priming my brass, and another hurdle. Turns out that I picked up the wrong primers, WLR M (magnum primers) and had already primed my brass. Started reading on the subject and most people suggest lowering the charge by 5-10%. I decided to lower the loest charge 5% to 38.9 grains of Varget for a 168 Hornady BTHP with an OAL of 2.800".

Is this too small of a charge? What could happend if it is? Thanks!!

I wouldnt worry about it, WLRMs are really much more potent than the WLRs, and WLRs work very well in the 308, just dont load them with Varget, get some RE15 and seat your bullets to 2.830", if you must use varget the lowest charge is 42, 46 is the max. So workup from 42grs. If you get some RE15 try 43grs, Id put money itll be a very accurate load for you. I could show you how bad varget is in my SPSS with 168AMAXs but the target looks like it was hit by buckshot, at long range.

Re: Newbi here HELP!

i dont think you'll create any unsafe condition by swapping standard primers for mag primers , unless your load was at the max already , which it probalby isnt.
