Not sure yet of the humor level here at snipershide but I'm almost always joking around a little bit. So I'm starting a sympathy/moral support thread for everybody like me who is or has been balls deep in a build and started to realize what an absurd amount of money they are going to end up having in a particular semi auto rifle build
smile.gif
I knew my build wasn't going to be cheap but holy sheep shit Batman! I had no clue what I was getting into lol! I'm looking at 5600 right now and no trigger or optics yet :,( that does include a can though at least.

Re: sympathy/support thread

What the hell have you purchased for $5600, with not having included a trigger or optic in that number?

Re: sympathy/support thread

I've spent A LOT of money on guns and cars. The best advice I can give, is to tell you to stop keeping track of it. Buy what you want and be happy.
$5600. w/o trigger and optic ain't too bad

Re: sympathy/support thread

Got 6mags, stock, silent captured spring, bolt n carrier n bits, barrel, gas block, mono ma ten upper and lower, bipod, suppressor, grip, pelican case. I may have forgotten something but that's the jist of it

Re: sympathy/support thread

That's $2000+ more than the heavily optioned GAP-10 I'm about to order. What on earth are you building?

Edit: now I see what all you got. Since you got a can it starts to make more sense.

Re: sympathy/support thread

Trigger is no big deal but optics are expensive.

I have an $8000 rifle setup and while I enjoy shooting it and have used it in a couple comps, sure would hate for it to get damaged.

Re: sympathy/support thread

I've built bolt guns that were $10,000 with optics, this game aint for the faint of heart, just sayin.

$5,600 in a gasser w/o optics, your at the top end. I'd draw the line.

Re: sympathy/support thread

Yeah McCrazy that's why she will sit in a pelican case when out of the safe

Re: sympathy/support thread

over the course of about 6 months, I built a 1911 frame for a ceiner 22 conversion in 2001, a piece here then another a while later, nice exotic wood grips, less baer hammer, ed brown bevertail grip safety, etc... etc, total for a freaking 22 lr: $985.
yep, it is mine forever, can't sell that thing without taking a huge kick in the balls but I do feel your pain mxcale.

Re: sympathy/support thread

Lol sumbitch that's a pricey 22

damn guns.... And pussy... And motorcycles... So fun but SOO expensive!!!!

Re: sympathy/support thread

indeed, the 3 extra mags and the cMore sight didn't helps either but shoots fantastic and is sooo fun.

Re: sympathy/support thread

I've got $5k in my Mk12 rifle...all top shelf parts, but that also includes NF scope and Ops Inc can. Fuck that safe queen shit, though. Everything I own gets used or gets sold.

Re: sympathy/support thread

It won't be a safe queen but skydiving, basejumping, and motocross are my passion so it will take a ltl bit of a back seat to them but trust me it will be called upon to throw lead frequently

Re: sympathy/support thread

Do Not Feel Bad. I own nothing but CUSTOM GUNS. This is an addiction, once you start it is hard to stop. I used to buy production guns until I bought my first Custom 1911, after I seen the difference I never looked back. Just like wnroscoe said, this game aint for the faint of hearts. Just enjoy and be happy you only live once ( I think ).

wondering the same.

Re: sympathy/support thread

His original thread says that price included a can. Not sure if this is his particular budget but when you toss a can in the mix, the prices get crazy with the purchase and paperwork.

You can easily rack up a $5,500 build before optic if a can is in the mix. Instead of sharing thoughts with the guy everyone wants to pick his pocketbook.....

Maybe you should ask for his permission before swinging on his sack.

No one is "picking" his pocketbook. I was merely curious as to what components he had chosen that would make the price that high and and I still am. Even when you consider the cost of a premium can (TBAC, Surefire, Shark, AWC, etc), that's a decent chunk of cash for an AR to not have an optic or trigger for it.

Re: sympathy/support thread

$7500 in my gun, that includes "used" optics and suppressor.

Just build what makes you happy and don't worry about, this game ain't for the faint if heart, at least the highend component game.

Re: sympathy/support thread

I am looking @ $7200 for my JP with optics and accesories

Re: sympathy/support thread

I just traveled down that road but with a custom bolt build, but not as expensive. While going through the agony and watching the checking account hover in double digits for a while, I could have used some sympathy. But now that it's done, and well worth it I might add, I will pass on a saying that was said to me. "If you are looking for sympathy, you will find it in the dictionary between the words shit and syphilis." I can laugh about it now. And the knowledge gained is priceless. Hope it turns out well.

+1 Cars, guns, drugs, booze and bitches, don't ever keep track!

Re: sympathy/support thread

So far prs stock, miad grip, pmags, mega monolithic mid length upper and lower, atlas bipod, JP 16" 308 barrel, JP silent captured spring, JP enhanced bolt and carrier and bits, JP fancy shmancy adjustable gas block, Gemtech quicksand, pelican case, and still undecided on either one of the 4.3 billion geiselle triggers or sending the thing to JP and letting them massage a single stage into it. Then it shall be time for the never ending optics question

too many awesome choices and I have 4.16% of the knowledge I need to make even a decent decision uugghhhhh!
