i have the 16x, and have no issues shooting 12x12 plates at 1k, the 20x would be nice for 1k +, but hard to find targets at under 500...

Depends on the conditions but pretty easy to see mirage at 20X and you'd wish you had 16X.

I'm torn between the 12x and 16x myself.

Plan to put it on a 223 bolt gun, which really won't shoot further than 500 anyway. That said, I'm a magnification whore, especially for load development and 100yd groups.

My heart is saying 16x, but my head is saying 12x.

Well I ordered 2 12x and one 16x. The 12xs will go on a savage 308 and 5R 308, and the 16x's new home will be on a savage 260.

I'll be getting a few of these right after the 1-6x FFP. You keep making what the optics community wants.. we'll keep buying! Nice job SWFA!

Go figure, I finally buy one of the older ones and they come out with these... I'll be watching for the group buy. These look awesome. Keep up the good work SWFA! I'm really happy so far with the 10x I got second hand. I think the 16x will be better suited for my 280ai.

Of course, these would come out a couple months after my 10x moa/mil SS came in! Guess it will be time to trade up when I get back. Does anyone have any experience with SWFA's trade-in program?

They are top notch at SWFA. I've talked to a few of their reps on a few occasions. Very helpful. I just wish TPS would hurry up and get my rings and base to them.

So I have a 20" precision AR15. And I would like to take it out as far as I can, so far I have gone out to 760yrds. And looking at these scopes I would like to put a 16 or 20 on my rifle. I am mostly punching paper or ringing steel. What do you guys suggest? Thanks.

I personally wouldn't go over 16, I've owned a 10 and a couple of 16's and overall prefer the 10. I've run it on a 260 past 1100 yards without a problem.

Oh, forgot to ask. Are these going to have the same body as the old ones so the sunshade and ard fits? Any further info on a release date?

Waiting for evidence of a Group Buy. If a package deal (Seekins rings, sunshade, BC caps, etc.) is offered, I will grow money overnight to get in on it. I hope nobody takes that as the Entitlement card as happened before with these things. Even if there isn't a package deal, I'm going to find money to get in on it. Even if there isn't a Group Buy, a 12x has my name on it. SWFA are great folks, I loved my 3-9FFP and will (edit: continue to) support their company and products.

I'm definitely replacing my Bushnell 10x mil/mil with the SWFA 10x mil/mil. Wish these were out 6 months ago. The only reason I didn't get the SWFA SS first was because there was no mil/mil. IMHO this is a great decision going mil/mil.

i tslked to swfs today they said the scopes are puched back til mid may. it sad news for all of us waiting for a great scope.

I didn't see a max windage / elevation adjustment. Probably plenty but it would be good to know.

A elevation range would be nice. Also a release date would help me decide what scope I'd be going with.

I would assume (that word....) elevation would be the same as the old ones.

From my recent email transaction with SWFA. Hope it helps answer some of your questions.

"Thank you for your patronage with SWFA.

First, my data reflects 30 mils of total travel.

Secondly, no they do not (Come with lens covers or a sunshade). However we have sunshades and Butler Creek Lens covers that you can add on to your order.

Lastly we are looking toward Summer 2012."

I put in an order for two 16x's on March 1st. Looking forward to one of these atop my .22.

Just for you bp78. I emailed these guys with the same question last night. Just checked my mail and:

"Yes sir, to answer your question our projected date on all the new fixed power scopes is also at the beginning of summer as well."

I quoted seeing June/July being thrown around for the 1-6x as a reference. My order is going in next week for a single 12x to start.

Agreed. I've had one on order since March and I'm getting very impatient haha. I might get the 5-20x50 instead of the 10x42 I've been waiting for. Still undecided.

I have the 5-20x HD and it is really nice. This will be on my trainer and AR rifles.

They are scheduled to arrive at U.S. Customs by the end of this month or beginning of next month.

My first order for a 12x is in.

Rifles, check. Ammo, check. Shooting range, closed until the middle of this month. Glass, hostage of Customs.

Come on US Customs. At least give me my glass so dry fire can be more fun.

I strongly agree.

The rear focus is ok but it would be nice with a more "conventional" side focus.
