I am building a rifle and I just ordered a SS 5-20x50 scope with the butler caps and the sunshade. I am now one step further to this project being done. Pics when it arrives!

+1

Re: I just pulled the trigger, (not really)

is there any way to figure out how far something is? I have a few spots around my house where there seems to be some distance. I would like to know how far they are so when I get the scope I know how clear things are.

Really, didn't you learn measurement in grade 4. Perhaps a tape measure may do you well.

Re: I just pulled the trigger, (not really)

You could always use the reticle in your new fangled optic to figure out the distances.

Re: I just pulled the trigger, (not really)

I do not own a rangefinder yet, and I dont thing a tape measure will stretch over my neighbors land. What is it Size of target x 1000 divided by Mils on the scope?

Re: I just pulled the trigger, (not really)

Distance measure app on iPhone is pretty slick. Sat view and can measure distances.

Re: I just pulled the trigger, (not really)

I dont have a iphone.I will see if there is an app on my phone.

Re: I just pulled the trigger, (not really)

I sometimes use google earth for this, there is a measurement tool on there. Not exact but is close enough.

Re: I just pulled the trigger, (not really)

Wait til your optic gets there and practice ranging with the mil reticle. Google is your friend as to how that works, but if you can do 2nd grade math then I bet you can figure it out.

THAT JUST HAPPENED!

Re: I just pulled the trigger, (not really)

Order a Mildot Master from SWFA. You can accurately range with a mildot scope, and the mildot master makes it easy. Also it is inexpensive.

Re: I just pulled the trigger, (not really)

I just got the SWFA 5-20 and mounted it all up it is quite clear!
