Also just got in today Premier Tactical 3-15x's(34mm Tube) and 5-25x's with GEN2XR.

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

Has anyone bought one of these yet? How's it working out for them? Is the lit reticle daytime visible (ie, worth getting) or not?

25.9oz = 734 grams... only 100 less than 3-12x50 PMII

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

I ordered one from CSTactical last week. UPS tracking shows that it's being delivered today. I won't be home to receive it so hopefully they'll just leave it by the door. If not I'll have to go to UPS to pick it up.

Anyway I figure I'll be one of the first few to actually have it in hand. I'll post some info once I got it and have a chance to play with it for a little bit. My current scope is a Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x40 with M1 turret. I've also looked through friends' NF scopes before. From what I heard the Premier's optics should be a nice upgrade compared to both the Leupold and Nightforce.

We've had lots of orders on these so far, but this new scope is still flying under the radar for it's quality in my opinion. It is a new product to the market still, but haven't had any issues so far. The reticle is for use in low light conditions. As they get out there more I'm sure you will see end-user feedback popping up more and more. And "yes," we have more in-stock and available.

Thanks,

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

Got the scope about a hour ago. I barely had about 30 minutes to play around with it so this is only an initial impression. The scope I ordered was the 3-15x50 Light Tactical with illuminated Gen 2 XR reticle.

The scope arrived in a white box with Premier logo on it. Inside the box the scope was secured by several foam holders. There was no documentation or customer registration of any kind. This was somewhat of a let down since Premier does not have any user manual on their website as of right now. Without any technical documentation I guess they either expected their customers to intrinsically know how to use the features of their scopes or they figure all these feature should be self explanatory. Well since this scope is such a new product I'm willing to overlook it for now. Hopefully Premier will put the owners manual up on their website soon.

Now onto the scope itself. It's around 26 Oz. and doesn't feel that heavy. The Premier lens caps were already installed. I looked through the scope at various magnifications. The images were very clear, and I didn't find any CA in the brief time I played around with it. Overall I'd agree that the optics in this scope is better than Leupold and Nightforce (keep in mind that I'm not an expert and this is only my opinion). The turrets were very nice and offer positive feedback. Way better than the Leupold Mark 4 turrets. I still like the Nightforce turrets better though. The clicks as you turn them are just a little softer than those from the Nightforce.

The Gen 2 XR reticle was better and more intuitive than I originally thought. I usually prefer reticles that are symmetrical but the Gen 2 mildot look a little too thick for my taste. I picked the Gen 2 XR because it's got thinner lines on the reticle. Before I got the scope I was concerned that it looked too busy. Now that I had a chance to look at it through the scope it's grown on me quite a bit.

Overall I'd say my impression is this is a very nice scope with superb optics. In terms of glass I'd put it ahead of the Nightforce, but it lags behind the Nightforce in terms of turret quality. The Nightforce F1 will definitely have some real competition in that price range now. If anyone has any questions feel free to post them here. I believe Ilya is in the process of doing an in depth review on some new scopes which includes the Premier Light Tactical. I'm waiting to see what an expert would say about this scope myself.

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

An additional piece of information about the light tactical scope, there is no ocular locking ring on this scope. The eyepiece is very snug so you have to use some force in order to turn it. In fact the eyepiece is so snug I wasn't able to turn it the first time around. I contacted Paul from Premier to get a clarification on what he expects about the eyepiece after absorbing some shock from the rifle fire.

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

I Mounted one up today to a new 308 I just had done. I was only able to tested at 100yds. I really liked how it did. Will be doing more testing soon.

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

Got my Light Tactical a couple of weeks ago from CST but was leaving for the family vacation the next day so just now getting to actually use it at the range.

I sold my full size PR Heritage 3X15 with Gen II XR reticle to replace it with this scope (too large) and I am not disappointed with the decision. Glass is everything the full size Heritage is and in a more slimmed down package more suitable for my hunting rifle. This time round, I opted for the standard Gen II reticle as I found the XR lines were a little too fine for my eyes.
The only feature that I miss is the zero feature on the original. The Light Tactical uses a VERY TINY allen head tool which is easy to misplace. The procedure however is very simple. If possible, I would have preferred that the tool was the standard one used for most scope screws only because every tool box has one (or ten) of them.
Haven't done an actual box test yet but I suspect it will perform flawlessly.

Just FYI, as noted above, it does come with the PR lens covers which are great, but if you ask them, they will also sell you the Scope Coat with the "Premier" logo on it which is provided with the Hunter model. I think I paid about $15 bucks for it but that price may vary a little. I think I caught them off-guard by asking for one so they had to scramble a bit to figure out the cost but they came through for me. I like to use the coat to protect the exterior when not in actual use.

My thanks to Paul at PR and all the rest of the staff for the great support they have provided me. I visited the PR facility on several occasions to watch the progress on the development and the production of both the Hunter and the Light Tactical scopes (only because I live just a few miles from them) and can verify that PR listens to customers comments and applies suggestions to the design and production of their products (within reason of course).

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

I have been running the light tactical with a gen 2xr reticle on a 6mm brx AR for about a month now.

Compared to my full size heritage scopes, the optical quality is the same. The build doesn't feel as "beefy" as the regular heritage line, but certainly seems to be able to take heavy use without problems. I agree that after you get used to the tool less rezero, you miss it. But no other competing scope has it either.

I'll take it over a F1 any day.

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

I would really like to see the hunter with i believe the A7 retical and some shots of what it looks like set on about 3 or 4 different powers at a 100 or so yards so i can see what it looks like and if it is usable for what i want to do. Any help would be great.

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

I will see what we can do on the A7. This is not a RET we would stock. I would recommend the GENII or the GENIIXR over the A7 this this is me. I'm going to be using a Light Tactical for hunting this year.

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

Mike, I spoke with Paul at Premier and he is going to send me some pictures of the reticle looking through the scope on some different powers.

Thanks,
Dan

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

The size of this scope are ideal for this rifle, now @ 12.5 lbs, loaded w/bipod & spare mag in the pouch

If I had a money tree in bloom, I'd own at least two more of these!

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

Looks good. 2 questions. What height rings did you use? Does the scope seem like it will be durable enough for some field use?

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

They are built like tanks. Durability is a non issue.

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

Excellent. That is good to hear.

Seekins 20MOA base & Seekins 30mm lows over a Rem Varmint contour barrel in the pic.
Durability in my other two PH scopes has not been an issue. This one feels just as solid, just smaller in stature than the 34mm beasts...

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

I love the PH but I don't need my optic to survive a HALO jump or weight 38 ozs.

This looks like exactly what I need. Thanks so much for the feedback.

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

They are great scopes.

We did quick video review on the Premier Light Tactical. We throw some dirt on the turrets to see how they work and we did not have any issues. I had some issues with the action running smooth afterwards. I guess I should have taken the scope off before I dowsed it with dirt.

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

If only it had a little bit more magnification! Still very tempted to try one out...

The glass in them makes up the difference.

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

Where can I look through one in/near Houston?

Most shops do not stock them. I will say if you get it and do not like it you can send it back.

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

I took out the Premier Light Tactical and had a blast with it. Did some unknown distance shooting and angle shooting all on steel.

I tried taking some video footage but it did not work out so well.

Great Optics, Great Size, Great Turrets, Great Reticle, Great Reliability = Great Time on the Range or in the Field.

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***

Any chance that someone with the Gen 2 XR reticle could throw up a through the scope pic on 3x then 15x at a known distance so i can see the reticle thickness?

I'm thinking of putting the hunter model on a hunting rifle i'm building and i'm worried the reticle may be too thick at high power. Never used a FFP scope before

Thanks.

Re: ***New Premier 3-15x50mm Hunter/Light Tactical***
