For all The Chevy Guys

Re: For all The Chevy Guys

pr nightmare. imho backtrack and cut your losses. no win for the dealership.

Re: For all The Chevy Guys

Reservists and Guard members (who are deployed other than inside the state) have rights under USERRA. You come home to your job or you get fired for enlisting, find a lawyer fast.

Re: For all The Chevy Guys

What a load of shit on both ends.

Re: For all The Chevy Guys

Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with the dealership/owner/supervisor what so ever, but...

I have been in the employer situation (and have honored that, but have witnessed it being abused), and I can damn sure tell you I wouldn't go that route on the employee side. I'd move on. Who would want to work for someone who doesn't appreciate the effort to serve your country?
Looks like someone wants a little attention and or is being pushed by others, media, or wants a free ride.

wow...just wow is all I get?

Come on.

Re: For all The Chevy Guys

I fucked up. I am sorry I blew right pasted a very key point being "enlisted".
Please accept my apologies. I viewed it at a totally different angle altogether.
To somewhat hold on to anything what so ever. He who enlisted is a better man than me as I did not.
It would be best if I just shut up, but I seriously skimmed this article and put a much closer situation in my mind.

Sorry for the fuck up on my part.

Re: For all The Chevy Guys

ok, I'll give you more...

the kid was recently promoted, so he probably isn't a POS... that makes me think he wasn't abusing anything.

when the supervisor asked him to start working weekends, and the kid mentioned his military duty, he was alledgedly told to choose.

when he informed them he would need time off to attend training he was terminated.

and I've also seen both sides, it's pretty easy to tell who's milking the system, in fact it is RARELY the kids, old guys are more likely to do it, the kids are however more likely to be all gung ho and volunteer for extra stuff.

and if you see that as a bad thing, you're a complete tool.

as to the just move on part of your post, sometimes it's not about getting the job back, or having a "free ride", it's about standing up for what's right and just... the exact things the Corps is teaching this kid about.

I've seen a LOT of guys just quit their job, because some douche supervisor gave them hell about military service.

I've seen guys go on a deployment to Iraq for 400days, come back to work withing a week ( they have 90 days to report back ) and 6mo later ask for a vacation, when they have 3-4wks of vacation time saved, and they're told "but you just had a year off".

I've seen them essentially be demoted while on a deployment, "because they're not here anyway, give it to the guys that are working".

and employers get away with it because too many people "just move on".

Tell them, "Next time, come with...and don't forget to bring clean panties...you'll need 'em."

Re: For all The Chevy Guys

On the actual topic, this is a horrific fuck-up on behalf of...wait for it......Nick Saccomanno, the supervisor. Thats right folks. I am not gonna jump on the bandwagon here. GM is not the ones responsible here. I dont care wht kind of hand-out they took. To try and tie in a tax-payer funded hand out and associate it with an event like this, as if GM were responsible for it happening is idiotic at best. Yeah, I resent the bail outs too, but really?

But i guess in this day and age its the cool thing to do when 1 person in a group screws up, then the whole group MUST be just as bad....except when......ok, I wont bring some other things up, but they really should make hypocracy a career.
