We had 13 show today for our match/wind reading clinic. ;)Switchy and stiff wind was the rule. (We had 3 wind flags out too) We enjoyed hosting another member from Springwater too, Allen G. Sadly, he had an issue that prompted me to offer up my Savage 6BRX so that he could shoot with us. He acquited himself very well despite the conditions and having to use my Savage in 6BRX with the NF-BR 8-32X glass, something he has never used before.

Nice shooting guys. I'm trying to get there, I really am. If all goes well, I should be able to make it in 2 weeks.

Re: Results Odessa May 5th

Well, I clearly need better optics for the new Stag. I can't see the .22 caliber holes to save my life at 250yd.

I also bought the wrong spotting scope. The angled eyepiece can't be made to work from the bench with any base I have tried, they all end up putting the eyepiece somewhere nearing the stratosphere. I have to stand up to look through it.

I had to rezero the F T/R's riflescope for the second test load/relay by guess and by gosh, and mostly by ear (holding the four edges of the square gong and figuring out whether I was getting a hit or a miss by the sound of the hits). I was busier than that guy at the asskicker contest. Lucky I hit the paper at all.

Serves me right for trying to do too many things besides the match, during the match.

Finally, that 30BR is very sensitive to the way I hold onto it. I still have a lot to learn yet about that rifle. Saying all that, I am still very lucky to have a rifle that's accurate enough to teach me those lessons.

BTW, caught the Mythbuster Episode tonight showcasing Special K's superior spotter skills ("Send it...., etc.").

Listen to that devil, I think he may be onto something...

John, you of all people, will never owe me any apologies.

K;

What's the deal with the shemagh? Is it one of those things I 'need to be there' to understand?

If my 'Spidey Sense' is any real guide, someone like myself would have no business wearing one.

BTW, I'm guessing the deed was consumated at the old Alameda Naval Air Station.

Greg,

The Shemagh is a 21st Century drive-on rag. I’m all out of O.D. cravats.

We were a long way from Alameda NAS/Nimitz field; we used a closed air strip near Tracy, California in the middle of the San Joaquin valley. It was a better choice of venue from the safety perspective.

For your enjoyment, here are a few pictures I snapped while making the episode.

Take note of the 2-inch thick steel trench plates used as our backstop.

K;

Thanks. After Googling 'drive-on rag' at all makes sense. It's not apparel, it's basic equipment.

Much like my Boy Scouting neckerchiefs; same shape, same purpose, different shade. We Scouts finish off the ensemble with a hand carved neckerchief Slide. That could be fun. Maybe I'll break out some of my collection for the coming matches.

At least, it does no harm. First, do no harm,...
