NightForce Bubble level?

I have a Nightforce F1 with NF Unimount on a LMT 308 MWS. I want to get a bubble level for long range shooting. Is Anybody using the NF rings with the NF bubble level top ring?

Im worried that you wont be able to see the level in shooting position and it will obstruct the view of my turrets. Anybody have any experience with this setup and have pictures?

How hard is it to mount the NF bubble level top ring since you have to torque down the screws and try to level it perfectly while keeping the gun level. Is there a trick to doing this?

Would I be better off getting an offset bubble level? Anybody ever use the Accuracy 1st level?

Any input is highly appreciated. I hate buying things twice. I would like to do it right the first time around.

Re: NightForce Bubble level?

I have a Flatline Ops level on my Nightforce. By far the best level I've ever owned. It sits on top and flips out when you're ready to shoot. The price isn't too bad either. I pulled it off my NXS and installed it on my M110 when I attended sniper school and I've shot out to 1350yds with it on my .300 winmag. 100% American made and tough as nails

Re: NightForce Bubble level?

I've got a couple of the Nightforce(Defensive Edge) bubble level with ADI mount. I really like them.

Re: NightForce Bubble level?

By the way, I can see the bubble with my left eye. Depending on where you set your scope in the rings, you may or may not be able to see the turret. I can see mine ok.

+1 on this. I love my Flatline level.

Re: NightForce Bubble level?

Steelhead I really like that setup. Its nice having everything together. Was it a pain in the ass to mount it? To get it all perfectly level

Re: NightForce Bubble level?

Spuhr mounts come with a nice built in bubble level if you aren't married to the unimount.

Re: NightForce Bubble level?

The Holland's signature level is a really nice offset model. CKruse

Re: NightForce Bubble level?

I really like the NF Unimount. If I where to change I think I would get the GDI mount. So I can mount the mini Red dot and have quick detach.

Those Flatlines look nice. I like how you can get the ACI on it too. Im just worried about its durability since it moves around.

So pretty much the offset is the way to go right?

No, the top of the ring is flat, so you can put another level on top of the bubble level in the ring.

Re: NightForce Bubble level?

So ,I demo'd an abandoned torpedo level and salvaged 3 vials. Glued one to the flat on my badger ring with thick super glue. Works. cost nuthin'.

Hah, I did pretty much the same thing with some vials I had ordered in the wrong size (for another project). Mine was between the rails of a scope tube rail adaptor. Works fine for now!

Im sure that works great. But I have almost $6000 into this weapon system and aint going to skimp on it now. All I need is the Level, ACI and possibly a mini red dot.

Damn right BigB308! Nothing like pride of ownership and attention to detail.

Re: NightForce Bubble level?

+1 for the Nighforce Level. It is easy to install by using one small level and the Nightforce bubble level. Do not install it "eye balling" for level. Instead cant the rifle till the bubble barely touches one of the level lines. Then mount the Nightforce level equal to the the other level. You will find much better results this way.

Re: NightForce Bubble level?

Vortex makes a nice one for about $35. Not saying you should skimp but how much does a plastic vial of green oil really need to cost. They also work with the same air and gravity principle.

Solid point. A level isn't exactly complicated technology....

Exactly, I have 2 of the Vortex levels. S100 plus for a level? Ouch!

I also have a couple of these that I find quite useful:

Re: NightForce Bubble level?

the Vortex one is nice. Im just seeing what my options are. Levels dont have to be hundreds of dollars. But like I said I have a lot of money wrapped into this weapon already. So I dont mind spending the money to get something that is accurate, looks nice, durable, functional. etc... A 30 dollar level is fine with me as long as it works good.

I havent used any of these levels for rifles yet. But Ive been in construction my whole life and there is a difference when it comes to levels. Some are more accurate then others, easier to see, more durable, etc. Things like how big the bubble is, Where the lines are drawn, if the actual bubble separates and if it does how long does it take to reform. If its placed in mount correctly. So there is a lot of variables to consider.

I would like to have everything on one mount. But I want it all visible from shooting position. This might be one of those things I just have to buy and try out. If I don't like it buy another. I just want to get as much info from you guys as I can so I can make and educated decision on which one to start with.

Re: NightForce Bubble level?

Go to Lowes and get a Line level. With your gun stationary put the line level on your rail. Level the rifle. Now with your rings loose enough to twist your scope put the line level on the top turret level the scope. Recheck the rail. That will take out the guess work in getting the scope square.
And the Nightforce bubble works for me. And it is neet.

That being said....I would go with the Flatline Ops level, plus the adapter and ACI indicator, especially if price is not an issue. All one unit, well made and visible from shooting position.

Re: NightForce Bubble level?

That flatline is sick but I pulled the trigger on the Accuracy First level. I also decided to split up the ACI and level now. I was checking out my setup and was trying to figure out where the best place was to mount everything and I think it will be easier to see if I split it up. The ACI can wait awhile too. I really dont do much uphill or downhill shooting. The land I shoot on lately is pretty flat and there is only 1degree of slope.

Re: NightForce Bubble level?

I have the ACI/ACD Defensive edge bubble and cosine indicator.

I love it and I can see both with my left eye while shooting. I do cry thinking how much I spent on the whole setup but its worth it.

Buy once cry once. I would rather spend the money and do it right the first time.

Re: NightForce Bubble level?

Here is the Accuracy 1st level. I haven't shot with it yet but it seems really nice. The ball inside moves very smoothly and it picks up the slightest cant. The only thing I don't like is that its made for a 34mm tube and you have to use a reducer ring. Its not a huge deal but I would just prefer it to be made for 30mm.

Re: NightForce Bubble level?

You could try and Invert the level like I did. It still gives you the same Hz alignment. We use the same method for surveying for the underside of bridges. It's easier to see and you don't have to keep lifting your heard up.

Re: NightForce Bubble level?

Thanks but this position works great for me. When I shoot 2 eyes open it seems like the level is inside the scope. Your eyes do funny things. I dont have to break position, look up or anything. Do you have a picture of your setup?
