I originally bought the pistol as a backup/training piece to my duty P228, found it on Gunbroker at a modest price of $400. When it arrived at the FFL I was in awe at the amount of wear this pistol had, the slide had virtually no finish remaining, the barrel looked in the white, and the frame looked pretty abused. I then did some searching online for basic refinishing, with priority to the frame which was rough on the outside, but not quite worn through at the frame rails. I ended up coming across US Anodizing, and finally decided on the "Navy" package, which consisted of type III anodizing the frame & aluminum parts, parkerizing the slide and other steel parts, then coating everything in what they call Xtremcoat. Fast forward about 2 months, and here is the results...

that is a beauty, I have a P220 that looks like your original P228, I need to refinish it now.

Awesome re-work you did on this firearm, it looks like a keeper!!!! Thanks for the link for the grips as well.

Re: Giving a Sig 228 new life...

How much did that package run you? I've got a P220 LE trade in coming that will probably need some work.

Thanks

nice! I think in the world of guns, there is nothing like transforming a weapon from old and worn to new and shiny

makes me want to find a cheap P6 pistol and get it refinished!

Re: Giving a Sig 228 new life...

I'd also be interested in knowing how much that cost. I have an abused Beretta 96D Centurion I'd like to have refinished to something like that.

Re: Giving a Sig 228 new life...

Was a little over $200 plus UPS rediculous shipping costs to and from; I believe the prices went up around $260 for the package on March 1st.

Awesome job. I recently started eyeballing the used gun section at all of the gun shops in town thinking about doing exactly what you did. It's pretty cost effective when you think about it, you get something that is exactly what "you" want and I like the fact that the gun is already broken in.
