TRG 42 300WM Discontinued?

Can anyone provide information as to why Sako has discontinued the TRG42 in 300WM?

I know that I can give Alex a call on Monday, just though someone would have some info on this.

Is this a very tardy April Fools joke?
I just looked at the Sako website and it still shows the 300WM on there with no mention of it being discontinued.

Why would they do this. Some folks cannot shoot .338 at their ranges, and need .300 wm.

Makes about as much sense as not making any more TRG 22s in .260 rem.

What the heck Sako?

Prob a stunt at Sako to get everyone to freakout and buy up all the .300 WMs, and then change their mind

I saw this on EuroOptic the other day... I wonder if it's not necessarily discontinued, but Beretta is no longer importing it. I know they have done this with several Tikka models lately.

That really blows, like mentioned above, some ranges won't allow 338 but more importantly is the cost associated with 338lm. Not everyone has that kind of disposable income to be able to shoot lapua, even if they reload. The components alone are outrageously expensive. But unfortunately this is Sako's decision and we are at the mercy of beretta importing certain models/Sako producing them.

when you really get down to it there is not that much difference in $$ between a 300 mag + .338 .70 vs .95 -- if you factor in barrel replacement than 1.00 vs 1.30 per trigger pull

instead of all this wailing and nashing of teeth over what sako does and does not offer add up what a middle of the road component built rifle costs ---> the same or less than a trg -- with the same or better performance

I've been trying to get one since January - I'm so bummed if this is true! Is there any rock hard proof from anyone else about this?

This is not a sako decision as they are still making the trg 42 in 300 wm. This is a beretta usa decision to not import them,same reason the tikka scout isnt available, same reason trgs all come with flat bases instead on canted. The opinion I got form a gentleman from sako is, and I quote "I am pretty sure the people at Beretta Usa dont know what end of the gun the bullets comes out."

So, chances are they can still be purchased . . . it will just be a pain?!?

When I purchased mine a few months ago I was told by EuroOptics that the 300wm 42s were getting more and more difficult to find. I was told by a local shop that it is true that Beretta will no longer import the 300 wm. Glad I got mine when I did. The 300 wm is a great round.

i was thinking the same.. i would have bought a tikka t3 tact in 300wm but couldnt find it

I thought about selling it, but I think I will keep it now.

I'm not sure how rediculas this truly would be but it would be nice if Sako/Tikka established a facility in the US so that they wouldn't have to be imported anymore and offered their entire line up!

A member of a Swedish shooting forum called Sako, in Finland, and asked about TRG42 in 300WM. It seems like the TRG42, in 300WM, is not a part of the standard line-up anymore and is only manufactured on order.

I've been saving up to get the 42, and just sold one of my Coopers to help fund this project. I really wanted the 300 win mag. I was looking to put it all together this summer. I guess I'm a day late, a dollar short and shit out of luck with this.

I called Euro Optics today, they sold there last TRG42 300wm about 3 weeks ago.
According to them, the 300wm was a hot seller! Filling the gap between the 308 and 338.
Did not talk to Alex as he was on the phone, spoke to another gentleman who was very helpful and took time to answer my questions in regards to the discontinuance.
Now to search for something else to buy instead.

Sako M995 action. Basically the same receiver and exactly the same bolt as on the TRG42. Bartlein barrel of your choice, Whiskey 3 chassis and bamm. You're good for about the same price.

And btw. That's what I'm doing. I have 2 M995s now and trying to get a 3rd.
