I'm going to bed my Manners stock does anyone have some tips for me? What is a good release agent for marine tex? And how much marinetex does it take to do a rifle? What kind of prep dp I need to do to the stock and action? Thanks

you need to use a good releasing agent. We use Johnson's Paste Wax. most hardware stores sell it and we haven't had any problems since we started using it. i'm not a fan of the stuff they sell you with a brownells accu bed kit.

Problem with the sticky is that the photos are no longer "good"...so it may be of limited use.
I had always used the blue release agent from Brownells that came with the kit, but after all the posts referring to shoe polish- Kiwi Neutral- I used it on the last couple rifles and really liked it. Dirt cheap and a tin will last a lifetime.

If it will help you, go to my you tube channel suar08161991, and look up the video on bedding a rifle. I do it on several of the builds, but there is one where I think I showed all the steps. I just can't remember off hand which one it is, and can't look it up now because I'm at work. Hope it helps.

Rough up the area to be bedded. Be sure the bottom of the receiver is clean and free of burs. The bed job will mirror the receiver perfectly. Every little scratch will show.
Mix up and slap in more than you think you need. Wasting $10 worth of epoxy isn't as bad as having to redo the whole job cause of a void.
The Brownells spray on release agent is just about fool proof to use. Costs under $5 a rifle using it. I've tried the waxes and watched Mcmillan bed with wax for release agent. Works fine but I cant see how its as good of an idea as the spray on. The spray on is perfect. Try it. Comes right off with brake cleaner too... unlike the shoe polish.
Use Guide screws if you're not pillaring it and be sure theyre straight
Be sure the barreled action sits level in both directions. Use tape around the end of the barrel to keep it centered.

I watched most of your videos it helped alot Thanks. I sell a commercial mold release agent that'll blast paste wax/pam/one shot/brownells out of the water.
$25/can. Doesn't go bad ever. One can lasts us 6 months.

I have a friend that builds aircraft parts for bell, boing, LM, etc and has his own very large shop to do so. Anyway I used to use brownells until he gave me a can of the stuff he uses. I do not remember what it is called and wouldn't be able to get a pic of the can until I get home but its very thin and very effective. There is a warning on the can about getting it on your shoes or the floor which I find kinda funny... The downside is its $40/can from his supplier. He uses it for his molds etc dealing with carbon fiber parts. The Brownells stuff is my next choice. It works as intended and works well at that.

I use a commercial mold release agent tha t will kick the ass of everything that ever thought of being a mold release agent. Aside from being the best release agent in the universe, you can also use it to fix a flat tire and it doubles as a meal ready to eat for those times that you forgot your lunch, it's at least 6000 calories. This stuff last so long that a case of it was found in King Tuts tomb and it still worked and it tasted great!
