Is it worth using my Stiller Tac 30AW for a hunting rifle build? Would i be wasting the AW cutout feature? More than likely the rifle will be used with 3 or 5 rounds in the mag while deer hunting. Should I save this action for a tactical rifle and use a Remington action for this hunting build? Interested in hearing your opinions.

I think I would be more apt to use something with a hinged floor plate with a hunting build but that tends to usually be due to capacity limits and not having to worry about catching the catch and releasing your mag. But if you have it, and that's what you wanna build on, go for it! It would be one very stout hunting rifle!

I just had Beanland do me a 243 on a Surgeon RSR. I'm running a factory remington BDL floorplate and a Game Scout stock.

I say, if you have it available, do it!

I don't like Mags sticking out of the bottom for a hunting rifle since I drag mine all over the place. That said I do like a mag instead of the Floorplate so I use HS Bottom Metal they sit pretty flush with the bottom for the hunting rigs.

That's kinda what I'm starting to think on this build. Just use a standard cutout action and save the Tac30AW for another tactical style rifle. Honestly the bdl floorplate would hold plenty of ammo for deer hunting. JCH how are you liking that Game Scout? I like that it has the smaller forearm with the more vertical grip. I have never felt very comfortable with the slanted hunting style grips. Is that stock really around 2 lbs like mcm's website claims? I'll be using a Kreiger Light Palma 8 twist in 6.5 cal, either for 6.5x47 or 6.5 creedmoor at 19". So I need to find a stock that will balance well with that barrel and my tbac 30p-1.

I love it. Yes it is around 2lbs....you can lay hands on mine any time you are around OKC..

If you are thinking of using a hinged floor plate then go with the Predator action as it is already cut for the wyatts extended box. This will allow you to seat rounds longer if you need to.
