I have finally done it! I am the soon to be proud owner of a 20" LWRC REPR thanks to the guys at Darc Ops Armory. I have been toying with the notion of buying one for about a year now trying to talk myself out of it but I kept coming back. I do have some questions about how I have it set up now. For now I am just shooting the Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 that was on my DPMS but may eventually move up to the MARK, I like the Viper but everyone tells me its crap. Im looking for a good mount for it any opinions, Everyone says Larue OBR 20MOA is the way to go are ther any others good ones out there. I am also running a Tango Down bipod rather than a Harris, has any one used one it is what came on the rifle from the shop. I would appreciate any info or hints on what to do, Also if anyone has a good reloading set up for it and wouldnt mind sharing please feel free. Thanks

Re: BIT THE BULLET

Congrats on the new rifle! You'll have to post a few pics so we can see how she looks.

Concerning the mount, do you want a QD setup so you can swap your optic between different platforms or do you want a solid mount such as the NightForce Unimount and, what is your budget when choosing a mount?

As for everyone telling you the Viper PST is "crap", who is telling you that and what optic are they running?

Re: BIT THE BULLET

I will definitely post pictures I will be picking up my rifle when I go home on leave, it has been the longest wait. I do want a QD set up just for the fact I do like to shoot my Viper on other rifles. Plus its much easier to put away that way. As far as budget goes I have already put 4K into the rifle there is no sense in putting on some cheap piece of crap, but I am a man who likes a deal on a good product. Im glad to hear someone say my optic isnt junk I love it. I really appreciate your input.

Re: BIT THE BULLET

Should be a very fun gun to own.

I've found the bobro qd mounts to be excellent! They lock up SOLID and there's no adjustments to be made. I don't care for Larue's anymore because they do not transfer well from rail to rail. I've had to adjust them to get the perfect fit, which is kind of annoying. Also had a Larue light mount that marred the hell out of a rail.

Re: BIT THE BULLET

If your mil call leupold they will give you a awesome deal on a optic. Bushnelle use to I'm not sure if they still do but the HDMR with G2 or Horus rec would be a good set up. Stay safe good luck.

Re: BIT THE BULLET

thanks for all the info I will defiantly be looking into all these options to complete my new baby. thanks again

Re: BIT THE BULLET

i pick up my baby in 8 days cant wait to share pics and range reports

Re: BIT THE BULLET

Congrats on the new rifle. As for your scope being crap, you now know that those making that comment don't know what they're talking about and you can file their opinions where they belong.

I won't try to tell you that the PST is the best out there, but it ain't no slouch.

As for the mount, I've gotten good service out of American Defense. I had a couple of bad experiences with Larue mounts, so don't use those any longer. I liked the Bobro, but seemed kind of bulky to me.

In any case, if you do decide to check out the Bobro, there was a time when the Trijicon branded Bobro mounts could be had for a good bit less. It might be worth checking out.

If the same people who are telling you the Vortex PST is a piece of shit and the LaRue mounts are the best then you should make a conscious effort to never listen to them. Theres way too many dip shit fucks out there who regurgitate information they hear or read and claim it to be their own while never having any personal experience with anything other than what they own. For what the PST costs you get A LOT of bang for your buck. LaRue does make quality stuff but from my experience owning a 5/8 riser that I have mounted on my AR, the locking mechanism gouges the shit out of the upper rail and I'll never buy another mount from LaRue again because of this. I have a GG&G QD mount on my bolt gun and it's made extremely well. American Defense is also great along with the others that several members mentioned. Personally, I find it ridiculous to spend $300-$500 on a mount. Yeah the companies can claim you won't lose your zero but for my $180 GG&G mount I haven't lost zero either taking it off and putting it back on.

Most people here love the Atlas bipod and rightfully so. It's a work of art. Then I'd say it's Harris and wayyyy down the line are your other bipods.

Re: BIT THE BULLET

Congrats on the REPR you will love it....I run the same 20" with a Leupold Mark4 4.5-14X50 Illum TMR ret,Larue SPR 1.5 QD mount,Larue QD Harris Bi-Pod and it has all served me well..American Defense,GG&G are also good options...

Re: BIT THE BULLET

Knew this was gonna be a REPR thread. Congrats, welcome to the fold

Re: BIT THE BULLET

Congrats! I too have a REPR, 16" though. Im putting the Sphur cantilever 30mm AR mount on and the new SWFA 1-6x. The Sphur is the best mountout there hands down there is a reason why it costs what it does. I dont plan on taking my scope/mount on and off so I dont want a QD. I plan on getting an Atlas mount sometime in the future after my gun is all put together.

Re: BIT THE BULLET

funny story just called to confirm that my repr in fde was shipping and they accidentally sold it to another customer. the guy was so apologetic he offered to get me a 20" repr in black instead plus whatever gun i want at his cost plus 700 dollars off of it and one more purchase at his cost on a optic. if you are looking for a good dealer i recommend darc ops armory in shawnee ok they bend over backwards to make you happy

Re: BIT THE BULLET

Sounds like a decent setup. I didn't really read every detail on this thread since I haven't slept in about two days while waiting to get back to the states. Anyway, a quick question would be do you really need a QD mount? To me its just one more thing that could fail and its easier with a QD. If not, I would recommend the Accuracy International Unimount(about $175) or the Nightforce Unimount. I the AI 18 MOA on two bolt guns and they are rock solid. Also they sit high enough to clear a 50mm objective bell on an AR. As for the bipod, I love my Atlas, but if what you have works, and you like it, then stick with it and if its still a question down the road, you can always upgrade.

If you buy quality gear (GDI, ADM, Alamo Four Star, etc) you won't have to worry about your QD gear failing. The QD mount allows for moving the mount from one rifle to the next for those of us who would rather swap our optic between rifles rather than spend thousands of dollars to outfit each rifle with a separate optic.

Re: BIT THE BULLET

Congrats OP! You remind me a lot of myself in that I have been looking at purchasing a 20" REPR, Love how the gun looks, feels, and the adjustable gas system, but I know the Larue OBR shoots well too and am also considering a GAP10... I was also going to put the same vortex viper on the REPR if I got one, Congrats again and looking foward to pics/range report

Re: BIT THE BULLET

Hey thanks for all the comments guys its nice to find people that dont think i have a screw loose for spending that much money on a rifle.(hewlett260) I decided to go with the QD mount because i like to stay fresh with my iron sights as well and i dont like to dink around with allen wrenches or have to waste time(however little it may be)with unscrewing my mount. not that it isnt a good point its just not what i was looking for. Oh just for another update only 3 days now. HAHA

Re: BIT THE BULLET

What other gun/optic did you get from the guy, as per his offer?

Re: BIT THE BULLET

well ive been looking at goofing around with some 3gun shooting with my buddies at our local rage. I am no gunsmith so I decided my own build is out of the question. So i was looking between the Stag 3G, Loki Weapon Systems 3G, and the DPMS 3G1. i am leaning towards the DPMS with a Burris MTAC cause its pretty much everything im looking for plus after the discount it will only run me about 300 bucks or 600 after the optic

Re: BIT THE BULLET

bauer, where in Shawnee is Darc Ops, and/or do they have a website? I work in Norman so that isn't all that far from me. Thanks, and enjoy the new stick(s).

I don't know where in Shawnee they are located, I found them through gunbroker.com, I would have used my local shop but I am currently deployed and they were willing to set up a payment plan where my shop wasn't. Also they do have a website but it is just getting started so it is not functional at the moment. but you can call 405-273-7766 and ask for Justin he is a hell of a guy to work with.
