This must be an abomination posting this here... But if I am to get actual responses, I think this is the place...

What kind of accuracy is to be expected from thsi thing? I keep reading sub moa with 118LR and FGMM ammo. that is pretty respectable for a keltec.

and with the size of this thing, it sounds like win. but I have never heard or seen any shooter using this for any type of shooting we do here.

If anyone has used this rifle, please let me know what your thoughts on it were. at 26" OAL which includes a 18" barrel, it sounds like a very good hybrid weapon.

There are some horrible groups too (like on KTOG) but to shoot 1 moa or better, you have to do your part. and they don't because most of them don't know how.

So I ask here, in hopes that someone with experience has gotten some good groups out of it.

curiosity killed the cat...

thanks!

I mean look at this thing... it's just so FRICKING TINY! It's not even an SBR. it has a 18" barrel! I would probably have it cut even shorter, so it's 16 with a pinned PWS comp or osmething

Re: Kel-Tec RFB

I so want a bullpup, used one before i think it was one of tho AUG variants and i loved it.
But only way I can get one is if it's not an "assault rifle" do to a ban.

Re: Kel-Tec RFB

Keltec had a longer barrel version at SHOT, 24" I think. Should improve the accuracy somewhat as well. Just would like to see the stats on durability under hard use conditions.

Re: Kel-Tec RFB

that's very long. but in a bull pup, it becomes the perfect size.

however it's not what I'm looking to get out of it. I want a compact .308 that can reach out and touch past 600. 18 (even 16) will do that.

he had me too. I think he meant in his state, it would be illegal

Re: Kel-Tec RFB

They feel heavy, but in reality it's just because they're so much smaller than an identical-weight full size M1A or AR10.

Accuracy in my experience has been "meh" - as I recall, the best case scenario I got out of mine was about 1-2 MOA using FGMM, and groups tended towards the latter rather than the former. Put simply, it's a short-range carbine rather than a condensed precision rifle. Lots of fun to shoot, though...

Re: Kel-Tec RFB

As much as I like the RFB concept, it seems that no one is trying to tune/modify any for better accuracy. In all honesty, I would gladly go for one if it could be relied on to get 1.25 MOA or better all the time, at say 500 yards.

As a competing idea, how about a large-frame AR with twin side action springs instead of that stupid buffer system???? It seems that such systems are working fine on pistol-style AR-15s. Once that is done, I believe that the AR could be easily modified to just funnel the empties straight down, enabling trouble-free ambidextrous use. The parts-swapping needed on the AUG system is really its only weak point in my opinion. And yes, I've shot them and more than once.

Ya I mistyped that, because where I am i have an assault weapons ban.
Which is annoying.

I'd be totally fine with 1moa accuracy.

I wish I knew someone that would let me shoot a box of 175 FGMs through it...

I'm gonna call my local police store tomorrow, see if they would happen to have it. doubtful, but they got awesome prices. if they do, I'll pick one up and see how it works out. These things sell very quick from what i've seen so...

Re: Kel-Tec RFB

Oleg Volk brought his out a couple of years ago at a little shoot/blogmeet I host , and i was not at all impressed . The rifle was reliable enough feeding and would plink water filled milk jugs at 2 - 300 easily . However changing mags was a nightmare with it . It was unlocking prematurely and showed fp wipe on the primers , then it decided to launch the gas regulator cap downrange . It functioned fine without the cap , and in " defense " the rifle was so early in production it could be called a prototype rushed to Oleg for photo use . Shipped it back to Kel-Tech along with fired cases ,and I understand they fixed all the issues , some with updated designed parts , and the rifle is running fine now .
This isn't to either bash or endorse the rifle, but since they are still pretty rare on the ground , just to detail MY hands on experience with one example .

Re: Kel-Tec RFB

Poor bang for the buck. And yes mag changes are extremely awkward.

If it launched the cap, you must have been shooting suppressed. Yes the early ones did that, but as far as i'm aware isnt an issue with the 2nd gen gas system. I havent had any issues with fp wipe, but then again mine doesnt have a suppressor. Maybe the gas system wasnt set properly? You can tell if your over gassing it if you end up with squared case mouths, they'll strike the upper feed ramp. The biggest complaint i've heard of is the gas system, with 50 some positions, due to the lack of space for a decent buffering system. But thats only really a problem if your constantly change brands of ammo. Just make note of the gas setting in your load book or a notebook. Once its set you should be good for 500 rounds or so.

You can do it if you practice:

It does, but you can get a kydex cheek rest for $35.

Also the barrel isnt free floated, the quad rail and hand guard both attach to the barrel.

I don't like that he's gotta take his hand off fire control.

I'd rather do it this way >;D
