aside from being front heavy....what disadvantages would be to building a tube gun eliseo etc.. with a long and heavy contour barrel??

i like the idea of the tube gun design, and would think that a heavier contour barrel would odviously be stiffer, and maybe allow a few more shots as the barrel would take a little longer to heat up and open up groups....

anyhow, im talking 28" heavy varmint, MTU etc. a boom stick you could use as a bat if needed

Re: tube gun barrel contour

Ive got one almost done any day now. But, mine is a creedmoor in a XLR with a 28" MTU contour.I could probably use it as a hammer if needed. Later this year Im going to get another barrel in .308 at 18" for a suppressor, probably the same contour.

I dont see myself shooting unsupported at all with it. Ive got a savage with a 26" straight 1.00 and its the same way, HEAVY.

Only disadvantage I can think of is its heavy and long.

Heavy and long is it!

You could sacrifice nothing by going to a smaller contour from any quality barrel maker.
