I just laid my grubby paws on a Kimber HD Pro Carry II and have about 150 rounds down the pipe. So far not a hiccup of any sort. Does anyone use a super for daily carry and if so how do you like it.

Thanks

Re: 38 super

Corbon makes some excellent self defense rounds for the super.

Cool round and you can always get a 9mm barrel for cheap plinking ammo.

The Super was the ticket in IPSC 25 years ago...

Re: 38 super

It still is the best round for IPSC Open guns. Unfortunately it tends to be expensive but it is the go to round for Open Division.
I know a few guys shooting SS .38 and I think its a great round. We can't carry up here in Canada but given the choice I'd be pretty tempted to carry one with CorBon loads. Better energy than a 9mm with a couple more rounds than a .45 in a 1911.

Re: 38 super

It seems like a good little round, I haven't found any of the corning ammo yet so I have been using some Winchester silver tips and it seems to shoot good.

Re: 38 super

I carried a full size Colt in 38 super for a while very neat round and I'll have another one at some point.

Re: 38 super

I dont carry it since it's built for open. I think the 38 super is a great round. If you reload, Montana Gold 124 HP is the way to go for $325 for 3750 to your door means you can shoot a lot for cheap. How many rounds does the Pro Carry hold.

Re: 38 super

Its kind of hard to think of not carrying my 5" 45 but the weight difference is quit noticeable. I was in Cabelas in Ft. Worth this weekend and actually found 38 super brass so now all I need to do is get the dies powder and bullets. I don't shoot in competition so what other bullets along with powder would you guys recommend?

Re: 38 super

These can also be bought at $124 per 1000 tyd. I have no affiliation with them, just shoot a lot of thier bullets and they are consistant. http://www.montanagoldbullet.com/index.html
I load for compensator so I use Vitavouri n320 which is gassy and pushes strait back with no muzzle pop, doubt it would work the same un comped.

Re: 38 super

My buddy has an EAA Witness "Limited" in 38 Super. The big mags hold like, 40 cartridges or something... ...ok, wild exaggeration, but they do hold a lot. 18 or 19 maybe?

Also, for blasting ammo, he buys some berdan primed stuff called 9mm Largo that isn't "quite" right, but functions perfect. I don't know a lot about it, but I guess it's ok to do.

38 Super definitely has more oomph than 9x19...more on par with 357sig. Whats not to like?

N320 is awfully fast for a comp gun unless you are shooting minor for steel challenge. For making major N350, 3N37 (my personal choice), 3N38 or N105 work the comp much better.
