OK, I have 3,000 of play money. and I want something wild...

the 2 things I'm looking at are -

<ul style="list-style-type: disc">[*]AR50 BMG ($2200-2300)[*]Desert Eagle .50AE with 200 rounds of ammo and 500 rounds of brass with dies. ($1300)[/list]

what will I do with such wild guns? I'm not sure. but I want the wow factor this time. and nothing says wow like HUGE guns with HUGE rounds.

Which would you do?

btw, I'm also considering spending that money on a GAP-10 or a PWS Mk216 but I already had a toy fund that I'm putting money away for. this time I just want to get something that I'll never able to get because they are totally unnecessary

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

get a gap or the PWS you will use it more and be happier in the end

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

It's your loot but I know I'd go get my GAP-10 or PWS if I were you. I'd say make the impulse buy AFTER you have the more practical gear you've been wanting. I think I'd rather have a 308 AR I shoot a lot over something that looks cool, is big and expensive to shoot.

Craziest thing I might do is put the money towards a DTA 375 CT/50 BMG switch barrel rig... Expensive to shoot though

This right here! The .50 cal is nice until you have to purchase ammo to shoot the damn thing. The Desert Eagle .50 is cool but too damn big for a CCW.

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

Guns aren't very "WILD" when you think about it...so I would get a litre of tequila, a whore, and a fast car... it will be gone before the day is over, or you will be.

Ha ha ha ha ha! This is very true!

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

Hookers and blow is the only correct answer.

This! Honestly if I had $3k to spend I would save a little more and buy the twisted 7wsm in the classifieds that RWS has for sale.

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

FN SPR A1 on EE here for $1250 shipped. Probably a Bushnell DMR optic to mount on it used for about $1100. Add ~$300 and get the gun threaded at ADCO and pick up a RSTA can on the group buy to finish the build.

Unlike hookers and blow, you'll have something to show for it.

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

If you don't know, then you don't want anything. If you don't want anything, then don't get anything. Because once you spend the money it's gone. I would simply watch the For Sale section, knowing that I am in a position to buy.

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

Been there with the .50 BMG.

Yeah, it's a lot of fun - at first. Then you come to the realization that you won't get the best accuracy with $3 a round ball ammo. You can shoot A-Max Match for double that, or sink another grand into a decent reloading setup.

You'll get tired of hauling all that heavy gear to the range (if you can find one that lets you shoot it).

Then there's the hours of cleaning, buying Hoppes No. 9 in quart bottles, and don't forget an electric toothbrush for the muzzle break.

Looking back, I wish I would have skipped the .50 and got an AW several years ago.

You're discounting the permanence of glory ...

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

I'd get a decent used mill or lathe and make stuff for profit, thus being able to buy and or make all the guns I want.

I live in an apt, but that would def be cool. would love to learn that stuff, but would need to be an apprentice somewhere before I think. I do want to buy that mini lathe harbor freight has to make small things though. practive on small barrels maybe. or actions etc.

hmm. interesting note, but how often you shot it? I'm thinking more of a safe queen here with maybe 20-30 rounds through it a year. will see the range couple times and that's it.

good thing is that these things hold their value VERY well!

if I get a AR50 for 2200, I could sell it fairly quick for that same price

interesting! no fun without full auto though.

meh... not feeling that. I already have a custom bolt gun with a HDMR on it that does 1/4 moa.

I know what you mean. but I have a separate funds to get the practical stuff. I can see saving for practical things, but I don't see saving for something just for the fun of it.

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

I would pay off any and all bills that I could with it. Yeah, not exciting, but its a lot better than pissing it away.

I knew that was coming.

no, this time it will be different. this time it will!

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

Which would I do? Ignore both and keep saving so that I could buy a DTA SRS in .300 WM. There is alot of WOW factor in such a unique rifle plus it is a fairly practical bolt action. Though if I had 3000 dollars, I would probably buy a car so I could get to the range to shoot the guns I already have.

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

I know you already have a number of good suggestions but I just might be in the market for selling a Baby Muffler 2.0 for $2,995 ($3,500 MSRP). Shipped. Never heard of a Baby Muffler? Well now you have!

The Baby Muffler (patent pending) is a breakthrough in acoustic science. Have you ever been on a plane with a crying infant? How about a nice restaurant with your wife, girlfriend, or butt buddy only to have your magic evening ruined by a wailing baby and the non-discipline parents? Well this is the product for you!

Simply slide the plastic jar sized cover over the baby's head and wait for the blissful muted sounds of silence. It's safe, effective, and has been thoroughly tested using chupacabra cubs. To make the deal even sweeter, the Baby Muffler 2.0 now has air holes (Spacing designed for maximum noise dampening), transparent (Green color to protect the infant from the Sun's carcinogenic rays), and even lighter than the previous 25lb Baby Muffler 1.0!

I can safely assume you are now interested in the Baby Muffler 2.0 and will provide pictures upon request.

Hope to hear from you soon!

*Any resemblance of the Baby Muffler 2.0 and it's patent-pending shape to that of an Intek Evolution 5lb protein jug with holes punched into it is PURELY coincidental.

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

Firearms related? I'd probably go with a GAP-10, and sell my LAR8. The proceeds from the sold rifle would buy quite a bit of reloading supplies. I might also consider a nice custom 1911.

Realistically? I'd put the money towards my garage/shop that I'm building this summer. Three grand would go a long ways towards a 10klb lift.

It'd also be nice to do some fresh head gaskets and head studs on the Super Duty so that I could support more output in the future. The gaskets haven't let go at ~575RWHP yet, but it's only a matter of time...

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

5000 rds 308
5000 rds 5.56
5000rds 45acp
1 case van winkle

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

The desert Eagle just seems like a weapon inspired by Arnold Schwarzenegger action movies. It's like the low-rider hydraulics of the firearms world.

I would get my Z06's headers fixed (one has a leak) but I don't know... the past few years, I've been concentrating on firearms and not so much cars. I've been there done that with a 693rwhp forged 355ci LT1 and turbo. it was fun, but shit kept breaking, and you gained 0 value out of it.

some of these 'fun guns' do keep their value. which is neat if you decide to sell.

This is one reason why my spending has shifted away from car projects in the past few years.

Substitute .40 S&W for the 45 ACP.
And a suppressor for my .308 instead of the Van Winkle and the difference between the 45 and 40 ammo.

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

Between those two, I'd definitely get the AR50. Personally I'd put it towards a DTA in .338, though- big but still practical.

Are you kidding me?
Apple is up 70% in the past year alone. 400% in 5 years.
That's not instant millionaire money, but it ain't a CD at the local bank either.

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

Tossup between..
18" .308 OBR
14.5" pinned 5.56 PredatOBR
Or .308 bolt rifle setup with glass

Talked to the lady about it.

She said she would get a Desert Eagle and a Sig 1911.

her point is that there aren't too many places that let you shoot a .50 here because of the massive muzzle blast. so I'd barely shoot it. the deagle can be shot at any range...

my local police store has a deagle for 1350 and a fn for 1120. kind of tempting...

Thought about a MK23 as well. Now that's somethign you see only a few times as well. 2 massive guns would be awesome. problem is, the MK23 is 1900 bucks. so I culdn't get 2 massive guns. lol

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

I would go with the 1911/or any decent polymer gun you like with some really good training classes. I think the instruction and training will stay with you a lot longer than the 'wow' factor a deagle or Mk23 would provide in the long run. JMHO

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

I'd buy two chicks at the same time!!

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

Well personally $3K would do a nice job of not only buying me the components for building my new gaming computer, but also buy the parts for the new AK I'm building and a nice supply of 7.62x39mm ammo for it.

I hear that, I have a mustang I have stuck a bunch of money into and I can't give it away.

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

Plenty of cash left over for Denny's in the morning.

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

FN SPR A2/A4 from tactical coordination, a Vortex Viper PST and a pile of ammo.

I am living vicariously through your good fortune of having an extra $3K to spend on your hobby.

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

If you already have the hardware to do so...... get ammo and training.

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

I would spend about 2500 on my families '66 Airstream and use the rest of the money for about 5 tanks of gasoline. LOL

Give me the money, I will kick you in the balls and you'll be money ahead in the long run.

I'll tell you what I'd do, man: two chicks at the same time, man.

That's it? If you had 3000 dollars, you'd do two chicks at the same time?

Damn straight. I always wanted to do that, man. And I think if I had 3000 dollars I could hook that up, too; 'cause chicks dig dudes with money.

Well, not all chicks.

Well, the type of chicks that'd double up on a dude like me do.

Re: You have been given $3000. What do you buy?

I would save it.

Or you may be like me one day and have a great opportunity to start a new company and have to sell off all your toys to help fund it!
