So they figured out how to make G model Cobras?
Woop-tee-doo. I hope they are not counting on 1960s technology to defend their country.

Being from the Ft. Rucker area, I love me some classic Cobras, but there was a reason they were replaced with newer models and different air frames.

Pretty soon, Iran will start cranking out their own F-4s or F-101s.

Lets see... 10 Iranian Fukwaad helicopters vs. one AH-64D... with no rockets... and no engine... and no pilot... and an M-16 in place of the cannon...

Whats really awesome is they are a 20 years late and like 10 million dollars short. Our Cobra's have just been upgraded to the new Venom. Those birds while new are very outdated. In all fairness, if they do go into conflict they won't last long. You could take down those helicopters with little more than time. The desert environement is hell on helicopters.

However, I completely agree with you....a G model Cobra, while a fantastic machine (and still beautiful) is somewhat of a relic considering what we have in our stables now.

Those Gs would never see death coming.

In 2008 in Iraq there was an Apache that was shot down out of a patrolling pair.

The second bird set down on the crash site, the downed pilot and rescuing weapons officer dragged the critically wounded, downed weapons officer and dropped him into the still flying WO seat and strapped him in.

The rescuing WO tied the wounded but still mobile, downed pilot to a stub wing, then tied himself to the other stub wing and the rescuing pilot flew them all home and in the process certainly saved the life of the severely wounded WO.

It was a major story in the company news bulletins for about a week.

Different event, that one happened about a year prior to the one I was referencing. Incredible work though, thanks for putting up a clip of such an event.

Preferable to Apaches

Sure they are. When you can not get Apaches you take what you can get and claim they are the deal. It makes you feel better and the ones who do not know better beleive it.
