I just wanted to share my experiences with Dave Kiff (and staff) and PTG reamers. First off any time I have ever had a question about a reamer I was able to talk to Dave by phone. He has always been very helpful and a pleasure to talk to. I recently had concern about a 260 reamer I have and without hesitation Dave said he would send me another one. He did just that, he had a new reamer in the mail the same day. I just thought this was exceptional customer service and wanted to share it.

Re: PTG Reamers

Dave and the crew are great people. I stopped in about 4 months ago to buy some stuff. Dave was very busy but he took the time to answer any questions I had.

Same here. He has alaways taken the the time to answer any question I have had. Sometimes taking the time to school me on stuff I should know before calling him. I will always go to him first for all my gunsmith tool needs. Great job Dave!!!

on par with all my dealings with him.

Re: PTG Reamers

Dave and PTG have treated me well. He has spun up some good reamers for me.

I do have an area of critique. Waiting months and months for reamers, gauges, tooling and bolts is too long. I don’t know how folks that do this for a living work in those time frames with customers. On the four projects I have worked in the past three years all have taken between 2-3 months to get reamers or some needed tooling or parts. Took four months to get my 22-250 reamer.

His parts and work is worth waiting for but there has to be a way to keep things moving along better. I had to order a bolt just the other day. First thing I asked, hey do you guys have anything in stock. I learned they don’t stock any bolts. They are made one at a time as orders are made. Estimated time frame 8+ weeks. I ordered a .300 win mag reamer on 040412, when I called yesterday delivery date still remains pending.

To stock a few standard 1 piece R700 bolts should be no bid deal. I would think if Dave could increase his production, or maybe find a more customer oriented production schedule, he would clean house.

I would recommend PTG any day of the week and as a gunsmith love what they do for us, but I wish they could be more efficient

Re: PTG Reamers

Just a few weeks ago I needed a one piece rem bolt. I wanted a standard body diameter, non fluted and a Remington extractor. I told the girl exactly what I wanted and what I was willing to compromise on to get one in stock. They had a fluted bolt and a smooth bolt both with m16 extractors in stock. I needed it now so I got the smooth bolt with m16 extractor.

Cool thing was since this bolt was replacing an older two piece ptg bolt, it dropped right in with no fitting required. The extraction cam is now about as good as I've ever seen on a Remington.

Re: PTG Reamers

PTGs wait times can be alittle long but well worth it. From what I saw I think PTG is doing the best they can with the amount of space, machines & staff they have.

Re: PTG Reamers

I guess another small issue I have with them is when multible items are ordered the ship em at different times and bill shipped for each. not a big deal just fell like saying it.

Normally they tell me what they have in stock and the wait time on the rest, if I don't want to pay shipping twice I tell them to hold the whole order and send at one time. By them telling me that it's in my court then on the shipping.

Re: PTG Reamers

Midway does have both the one piece and the bolt bodies in stock sometimes. It's sporadic, but I have found a couple I wanted on hand before.
