W-3 Chassis: Rem 700 *Updated with Folder info*

Re: WHISKEY-3 Chassis for the Remington 700

How much would it cost to upgrade a fixed stock to a folding stock if we sent it in? and can you give us a list of aftermarket triggers for 700 SA that are compatible without having to mill to stock?

Re: WHISKEY-3 Chassis for the Remington 700

We have folder retrofit kits in stock but this is not something we do, it's a DIY affair. The kit itself is $450. Future stocks will not be upgrade-able.

For the Gen 2 stocks most triggers we know of require a slight mod. We'll be putting out a table of triggers and how they fit but it will take some time yet to complete.

Thanks,
Justin

Justin

Have you got anyone lined up to bring these into the UK yet?

Cheers

Re: WHISKEY-3 Chassis for the Remington 700

It just so happens that we're talking with someone right now. If all else fails we've got stocks headed to Italy right now and France shortly, with .gov blessing anyway. Do we have your email? We'll be putting out a newsletter with all the new export info shortly. Thanks,
Justin

Thanks Justin, there seems to be good interest over here so look forward to any news on UK imports. Will sign up for the newsletter.

Cheers

Re: W-3 Chassis: Rem 700 *Updated with Folder info*

Sorry i dont know if this was already asked or not, but will the badger ordnance version of the stock come in left handed versions and will there be an option for it to accept AI AW magazines.

Re: W-3 Chassis: Rem 700 *Updated with Folder info*

We have no plans for a lefty badger version but Glenn at Badger did convert one for himself and I don't think it was too difficult. However you'd have to use a fixed stock as the folder interferes.

The Badger version does accept AW mags. Thank you,
Justin

Re: W-3 Chassis: Rem 700 *Updated with Folder info*

It's coming I swear, haha. We had a little setback but we're expecting them to be ready in 1-2 months. We really don't set release dates per se, just time frames. BTW it uses CIP length AICS mags.

Re: W-3 Chassis: Rem 700 *Updated with Folder info*

do you know off hand if a timney trigger would fit without any milling? Wouldn't milling cause a rust build up issue? not exactly sure.
Do you plan on doing a group buy here on the hide soon?

Re: W-3 Chassis: Rem 700 *Updated with Folder info*

Do yall have any plans to make these for the Savage action? I really really like the stock for my next build but had planned on using a Savage so I can replace the barrel myself as I will be building a barrel burner.

Re: W-3 Chassis: Rem 700 *Updated with Folder info*

The Timney requires trimming of a post that sticks out of the side of the trigger. Apparently this is a pretty common mod to the Timneys for other stocks as well. The chassis is aluminum, so it's not going to rust. Any milling on the chassis would cut through the anodize and leave a shiny spot. Milling/modifying triggers would be case dependent, as some are stainless steel, some have an aluminum housing, etc. We are not planning a group buy.

McLarenRoss, we will be looking at the Savage action later this year. We have some other versions that are already in the works that need to go through the pipeline. The Savage may not be possible, it's hard to say at this point. You might try looking at the Badger M2008 action as you can swap the barrels on it as well although there isn't a large supply of already chambered, in stock barrels for it like the Savage.

Thanks,
Justin

Re: W-3 Chassis: Rem 700 *Updated with Folder info*

Thank you for answering my questions so quickly. Now just a few more questions. What would exactly get interfered with with the m2008 version of the stock if I had it modified for left handed use and it was the folder version. If it is just the bolt handle in the way, couldn't I just have a little bit of the stock milled out for it to fit, because I think having the stock fold over the bolt handle would make for a more streamlined profile of the gun in my opinion.

Re: WHISKEY-3 Chassis for the Remington 700

is the hole in the front for mounting this:

Atlas mount for TRG...

Re: WHISKEY-3 Chassis for the Remington 700

Gentlemen,
700 LA model is due to be done sometime inside of 2 months, about the same time as the M995 version.

As for the Badger folder, it would be best to contact Badger as they tried to make it work but couldn't or decided not to. You may or may not be able to just cut a hole, there's moving parts inside the buttstock so maybe the hole to be cut was just impossible.

There's a hole in the front of the chassis like a TRG because the chassis is basically a direct derivative of our TRG conversion kit and our TRG folding back end. It will accept a TRG bipod if your barrel clears, but keep in mind that the TRG has a little steel plate for the bipod to latch into. The Atlas mount will fit, again depending on your barrel profile. We are working on our own Whiskey-3 specific mount that will use some of our other mounting options we have in the works as well as some NV mounts.

Thanks,
Justin

Re: WHISKEY-3 Chassis for the Remington 700

Also i wondered if the next generation will have platic covered front, both because scratches wont be as visible and the fact that aluminium transfers heat about 6 times more efficient than steel. That is getting pretty cold in the winter. It might not be a problem if you just shoot with a bipod on the range, but i want to use it for hunting as well. The design otherwise is great!

Just wanted to check in and see for current stock on an SA Remington 700.

Thanks!

Re: WHISKEY-3 Chassis for the Remington 700

When I emailed them last week it was 6-9 weeks to get through the current backorders if you want a fixed version. I ordered a folder over the weekend and was told Monday they were out but expected more today.

Re: WHISKEY-3 Chassis for the Remington 700

We have a skid plate coming for the forend that will protect both it and your hand. It's still a little ways out so I won't get into too many details but yes we have been working on it.

We currently are 6+ weeks out on the fixed Rem 700 stocks but we'll have folders ready today or tomorrow.

Thanks guys!
Justin

Re: WHISKEY-3 Chassis for the Remington 700

Any chance of one of these that fits the 700P MLR in .338LM?

Would love a folder for it.

Re: WHISKEY-3 Chassis for the Remington 700

i cannot wait, i have one coming from badger for a 2008... i count the days

Re: WHISKEY-3 Chassis for the Remington 700

I don't think there's really any difference with the Rem 700 .338 vs the regular 700LA, in regards to the action body, so it should fit. Our 700LA chassis will use the regular length AICS magnum mags so that will limit you a bit in OAL, but there are ways to make the CIP length mags work.

We have 3 NV options in the works, one of which will bolt straight onto the W3C and the other two involve our spigot mount that is coming. We hope to have all those out in July but that's no guarantee.

Joe, the 995 is coming as well. You'll have quite a stable!

Awesome. I will stay tuned.

Add me to the list of EXTREMELY interested in a Savage version. My toy fund would scream at the thought of 4 folders, but I would love them.
