Well its that time of the year again and M&M is putting on another tactical and long range match
when 22 sep. 2012
where 5 miles south of Draper South Dakota Exit 201 off of I-90
Preregistration encouraged as we only take 40 shooters

I've shot this shoot the last 2 years and it is a very good shoot to attend.. Great courses and great prize table.. Worth driving time time to come to this one..

The long range match is shot from the ground with a bipod no front rests and no rear suport devices other than your hand. If physically unable to shoot from the prone poition exceptions will be made.

The past 2 years we have not allowed any zeroing before the match starts just don't really have the time. I will talk to my partner and see if he would be ok with letting people come down the night before to zero on the other long range corse we don't use for the comp. We do let you use a spotter on the long range.

There will be more prizes comming as well. Still got hs precision and a few other companies. It is a fun shoot everyone that has been out for the first two said it is one of the best they have been too.

I just checked my calander, and I have that weekend off with nothing scheduled. I think its about dam time I put my guns to work and see how I stack up with fellow shooters.

Plus, somebody's gotta represent Nebraska up there......

Is there any moving around from spot to spot while shooting the long range course? Are you willing to share any more explanation of how the course of fire is laid out?

The past 2 years we have shot from the same firing position for the long range a elevated postion firing to the north. we are changing things up this year and moving to east and firing to the west from a more elevated postion. the way the terrain is the angles on your shots will be different at almost every target. be prepared for anything last year our close targets were pennies hanging on strings at 97yrds and at 400ish it was minnie bolling pins that were 6.75 tall and 2.15 wide hanging on a string. at the 500 yrd mark we had a car with a hostage in it 9"x9" steeel plate for the hostage and a 9x4.5" plate for the bad guy both road over lapping. the first year we gave penalty points of hitting no shoot targets last year we didn't deduct any points. we have 18x30" humman steel that we had at 900 and a 1000 and 1250 last year those you got 3 shots at and a 12" gong at 700 with 3 shots to engage scorring points for each hit. we have talked about changing positions but not sure yet if we will. as for the run and gun the course is between .5 and 1 mile it is timed we use the time as a tie breaker. last to years course has run a long a creek bottom RO goes with you and points out fireing positions and targets also maked with red and while flags indicating pistol or rifle tagets or combination of both. last 2 years combination of steel and paper we keep adding to out steel targets with the hopes of having all steel eventually making things easier on our ROs. Last year longest shot with the AR was the last station 409yrds 5 shots on a 18x30" steel silhouette. bipods are allowed on the ars and can shoot from any position on the course. there are hostages and bad guys hidding behind trees. its just a good time.

Yeah we still have slots open for both courses.

Anyone coming from out of state the anchore inn in murdo is a good spot to stay clean and resonable rooms has a bar that serves food as well. And the busted nut bar and grill right at the exit off of I-90 has great food as well

Haven't been on here to update for a while so thought i better let everyone know whats going on. We have about 30 shooters registered so far. Some are just shooting the long range side so we have more spots open for the run and gun at this point.

Manners stocks gave a 250.00 certificate
precious reloading out of Mitchel SD has sponsored the t shirts and gave a couple gift certificates

Things are looking good for this year

What is the average elevation where we will be shooting?

Also, have you given any more thought on a place where we could check our zero's?

You really shouldn't have any problems with elevation changes coming to SD.

My home range is 1550 feet, it looks like Draper, SD is around 2250 feet.

Your right there isn't much difference according to the ballistics I just ran.

Are you attending the shoot raptor99?

The elevation at the ranch is around 1900 feet accourding to the kestral. If you are coming in the night before there is a public range north of murdo a couple miles but my partner doesn't want to let anyone on the range early.

Dennie, why are you guys not letting us use a rear bag or support of some kind???

Last year your targets were pretty damn small and I don't understand the restriction of the rear bag or rest. I know its the same for everyone but it just doesn't make a lot of sence to me to be shooting at small targets a long way off then not be able to hold on the damn things.

It has always been in the rules for the match since we started 3 years ago that you couldn't use a rear bag. Botb rodney and intended it to be off hand suport only. Last year a couple of guys used other devices that weren't bags and since they weren't bags we couldn't stop them from useing them a couple people complained so to end the confusion we decided to clairify to rear suport other than you off hand which is what i always use unless shootimg of a bench or fclass. This year the match is going to be in different locations than last year we will be shooting west on the long range with some different target placements and the run and gun will be on rods big creek bottom. I am headed down next week to make some moretarget stands and start seeting things up. I will discuss the rear suport and let ya all know our decision.

Talked to rod about rear bags and we decided this year we are sticking with just using your free hand for rear suport and next year we will let ya use whatever you want.

Hope to get in some good shooting this weekend. The guy who has built a couple of my rifles is hosting a shoot at his place out by Whitewood for his customers. Sounds like it should be a good time. Just hope the weather is nice and the damn wind doesn't blow 30mph like it does most weekends.

Yeah i am looking forward to shooting with you guys again good luck this weekend too. The old man will be down at rodney's to shoot the long range. Got him a new 6-24 Ior for his b-day and retirement with a 30moa retical for wind and elevation see if it speeds him up.

Sorry I won't be able to make the shoot tomorrow. My wife fell and broke her hip yesterday and had surgery this morning. Please tell Rodney I am sorry I had to cancel and tell the old man, Murphy says "Hi" and give the young pups hell!!

Just want to thank everyone who made the trip to draper for the shoot. Was good to see some new faces and the the guys from the past years again. Great shooting with you all I will try and get some pics posted up this week. Brenda has some up on our face book page all ready from the run and gun. Thanks again everyone we had a blast
