I just shot four 5 round strings through the SASS...and the FGMM 168s averaged 2458 and the 175s only 2405.

Doesnt that seem pretty slow, even for an 18 inch barrel?

Shot some of my reloads intended for the bolt gun as well, these are 45grains Varget and 175SMKs in FGMM brass...these were 2550. They showed some slight ejector swipe so they look a touch hot for the SASS.

Any reason the SASS would have such low velocities? I expected more like 2500 or a little over for the 175s.

I have a SCAR 17 with a 16.25 Barrel and I'm getting the following measure 10feet from muzzle. The second set of data is taken from my chrono at target 100yards downrange I will use DR: so everyone understands. The chart flows Bullet, Powder, COAL, Grns of Powder, FLR MG: Federal Large Rifle Match Grade, Each bullets speed first, Avg Velocity, Extreme Spread, Standard Deviation. All Hornady Match Brass Trimmed 2.005, Flash hole cleaned, primer uniformed and cleaned, chamferd and debured. The Z-max is the factory Zombie ammo from Hornady.

Re: DPMS SASS FGMM velocity very low...

Yeah i ran into the same thing with mine (10 shot ave of 2439 iirc). I went to my first F-class shoot not knowing it was that low and had all my numbers for about 2550. Needless to say it didn't work out so well for me.

I promptly bought a chrono and have now got handloads seemingly as accurate with more M/V and will be using those at the next shoot i can make it to.

Re: DPMS SASS FGMM velocity very low...

My DPMS SASS shoots right around the same, that just let me know my handloads sweet spot is right around 2400-2450, which coincidently is right around the area my test resulted in the best accuracy.
