brand new 10 rounder in a CDI BM. doesn't seat all the way with bolt closed and mag empty. feed lips hitting the bolt? I have another 10 and a 5 rounder that have zero issues. I assume I just need to bend the lips until it fits?

Re: AI magazine issue

I think the issue is the bottom metal not the magazine.

The magazine is sitting too high because the bottom metals is too close

Re: AI magazine issue

well, a trip to the gunsmith later and everything is ok. it was the mag. the feed lips were not bent correctly from the AI factory.

Re: AI magazine issue

What could go wrong with a pair of Vise-Grips and a Dremel tool????

Hey,I'm glad you were able to work it out.

thanks for the help over the phone Steve. After I tried my luck at making it work I drove to accurate ordnance. It took a file, pair of pliers and a grinder. All being used by a qualified gunsmith as I watched of course

now everything feeds just right.

Re: AI magazine issue

I have only used one AI 10 round mag...and with no issues. But the McRees mag that came with my stock needed a couple of taps with a hammer on the top, forward face. You might check yours. There is a plate inside the mag where the joint is located. Mine was just a bit off.

Re: AI magazine issue

I have a similar problem with a C Products LLC AI knock off 5 rd mag. The AI 10 rd mags I have fit my JAE 700 chassis perfectly (since the stock has an adjustable collet to tighten up the mag well; no rattle, no clanking). I think I'm going to cinch it into a vise, as the rear top width is just a hair too wide, and sticks in the mag well.

Re: AI magazine issue

Just ran into this problem with a 5 round .308 AI magazine in an AICS, believe it or not.

Didn't seem to seat properly 100% of the time: bolt open or closed.

After a few successful times, seems like the paint wore away at the lip where the magazine catch engages and now it works. Go figure.
