I just had this finish up this past week and was able to do some load testing at 300 yds
Specs
Stiller Tac 30
Bartlein Barrel 19"
260 Rem
Ross Brake
Manners T5a Molded Desert Sand
PTG DBM
Jewell Trigger
Sightron 6-24x50 LRMOA

This is with Hornady 140gr BTHP
H4350
New 7-08 Brass, so it still needed to fire form
The top Left group is 5 shots, Measures 3/4" CTC I think it can do better judging by the horizontal stringing.

Re: My New 260

nice! what color are you going to paint the scope? i bet it would look cool if you krylon'd it tan and sponged some brown to match the stock.

like the t5?

Re: My New 260

What reamer?
Neck dimensions on chamber?
What twist barrel?
Why screw with 7-08 and not just use Norma or even lapua .260 brass?

Love the stock and colors...nice rifle. It should shooter better once you work the load.

Re: My New 260

Very nice I'd also be interested to know what velocities you are getting with a particular load.

Stuff like this makes me want to chop my 26" 260 down...

Re: My New 260

Thanks for the kind words, A local smith Mike Pigney built the Barreled action and I bedded it in the stock. He does amazing work, he is the only guy I will use.

I'm not sure what reamer it is but it is set up for 142gn MK Mag length. The neck is .295, I load the 7-08 brass because it gives me perfect neck dimension, .293”. I have another 260 with the same reamer and I run Nosler brass, I love it but I wanted different head stamp so I can easily keep the brass separate. I can't run Lapua brass because the necks are too thick and I don't want to turn necks. I have never tried Norma brass because it is hard to get in Mass.

I was pushing 142gr SMK to 2650 with 43gr H4350. No signs of pressure so I just bumped it up to 43.5 which is what those groups were shot with, Still no signs of pressure but I didn't chrony them yet. I will this weekend. It drops 4moa to 300yd with a 100yd zero.

I have a 28" 260 also and I love shooting the 19" way more, i would chop it if you dont need the extra velocity. It is pushing the 142SMK to2850 so I am loosing less than 200fps for 9 less inches. I think I can get the 142 to 2725 with more powder or a different one as I don't have any pressure signs

Thanks Mike. I did this one in Desert Sage. I really like the color.

Re: My New 260

First off...badass rifle. Just a little bit of load data for you to compare. I am running a 20" 260 and avg 2770fps. I was running Fed 210 primers but gave the rem magnums a try off a tip from my shooting partner. Gained about 40fps and my groups tightened up.

Rem brass ( switching to win 7-08 when I get home )
43.5gr of H4350
Rem Magnum #9 1/2 primers
Hornady 140gr bthp loaded ten thou. into the lands.

Re: My New 260

Looks great, should be a handy rifle in the field for sure. Seeing this makes the wait on my 6.5 shorty longer....

BTW have you weighed it yet?
