I need some help with this. I am sure I can figure it out but with the expendature of a lot of ammo that I don't have at this time. (I spent all my money on this rifle, scope and BORS)I have a new Savage 110Ba in 300 Win Mag. On top is a Night Force NXS 3.5-15x50 scope mounted in Barrett 30mm one inch high zero gap rings. The scope has 100MOA elevation internally and 80MOA windage. In order to mount the Barrett BORS I have to use the Barrett mounts. My first trip to the range, (100 yd) with the elevation adjusted all the way down,my impact is about 24 or so inches high. Is this normal and if not what do I do about it? My intension is to shoot at much longer ranges but my BORS system says to zero at 100 yards and NF says to zero at 200 yds. Any advise will be appreciated.

Re: 20 MOA rail, causing my rifle to shoot very high

Look the base over, sounds like it might be backwards, if thats possible?
20+ inches high at 100 would kinda point at the base, however, you shouldnt be turned all the way down as that would be 100moa. Keep us posted.

If using BORS then zero to what it recommends.

My initial thought as well is that it might be mounted backwards.

Re: 20 MOA rail, causing my rifle to shoot very high

It may be that you have the zero stop adjusted way high. Adjust your zero stop all the way down (which is actually screwed out all the way, I believe, not absolutely sure).

I'll bet its the zero stop.

Your scope has 100moa of adjustment. If you are all the way down, count the number of turns to go all the way up, then multiply by the moa per turn (or mil if that is what you have). If it's not close to 100 moa (3.5moa per mil), then its your zero stop.

Re: 20 MOA rail, causing my rifle to shoot very high

The rail only goes on one way and the BORS will not work with a zero stop scope. My NF does not have a zero stop turrets. I guess I will remove the BORS and start over. The only thing I can think of is that the BORS adjuster that replaces the NF adjuster for verticle might not be installed correctly, however I followed the instructions very carefully. Barrett says to zero at 100 yards. NF says the scopes are designed to be zeroed at 200. I suspect that once set up the BORS computer will take care of all that. I will get back as to the installation of the BORS.
OK I took it all apart and reinstalled the BORS. I did not find anything that looked suspesious but it may have been possible for the vertical adjuster adapter knob to have turned on the scope post. I made sure it won't turn and used the loctite 222 supplied with the BORS for that purpose. Everything else went as stated in the manual. I will let you all know if that was part or all of the problem or not the problem at all after I get it to the range next time. Thank you all again.

Re: 20 MOA rail, causing my rifle to shoot very high

Well the vertical post adapter must have been the problem. Removing and re-installing did the trick. The rifle shoots exactly where it is supposed to. Now to work up some loads and start banging steel at long ranges. Thanks for all the advise and assistance.

I believe it's the other way around; or should I say "backwards"!

Re: 20 MOA rail, causing my rifle to shoot very high

Glad you got it working. It always scares me to drop that kind of money then have problems.

Re: 20 MOA rail, causing my rifle to shoot very high

I havent used an MOA rail personally.

But I believe that the thicker end should be to the rear (stock end) and the thinner portion is towards the front (barrel tip). Thus, in effect,te scope is in pointed slightly downward towards the front.

Correct me if I am wrong
