I saw where a .50 AE did take a womans head off but it was a very different circumstance than in the video.

Seen this a hundred times.

That guy should be ashamed of himself. She should have been shown proper grip and informed to lock the arms slightly.

1st shot recoil causes pistol muzzle to be pointed at shooter's head(like the video), a 2nd accidental shot would "take her head off".

She did a good job of keeping muzzle downrange & not breaking her 90 after getting popped . Think she is tougher than she looks .

Seem to remember hearing of a few of the S&W 500 revolver shooters claim that they shot two rounds at once(in reality meaning the first shot recoil caused the shooter to panic, thinking they were losing hold of the pistol, immediately clench to retain the pistol and fire a second round, where it lands... where its pointed, if that's at your head...)

that is not even funny. poor girl could have been seriously hurt. they didn't even think to make sure that she was using proper form or that she could hold that thing down

I cringe when someone hands an inexperienced shooter an advanced or weapon clearly out of there experience level.

Luckily no one was hurt.

Agreed. If she would have cracked her skull or lost an eye it wouldn't be so funny. maybe he should pull the trigger on some crazy 3" barrel 50bmg handgun?

Thats not a joke and i dont find this very funny.. i just lost my baby brother at the age of 17 from gunshot.. this could of ended very ugly, lucky for her. That guy probly did it as a joke... Shame on him!

I've seen that happen with my own eyes with my own 500. I let someone new shoot it at our range after a pistol shoot and they some how pulled off both shots under one recoil impulse. I still don't know how they did it, because I've never been able to do it myself shooting it normally.

Yeah, here are a couple double fires with the 500. I found one in slow motion before, but can't seem to find it.

Double firing With a pisto, I understand. But can someone please explain how can this happen with a revolver?

I'm confused myself. I won't claim that I didn't flinch shooting the .500, but I didn't shoot off a round into some random place in the sky either.

people who get scared of the big boy calibers, tend to grip way to hard. and sometimes they forget that it is double action, thus when recoil happens, they squeeze extra hard and forget there is a trigger there. but the trigger reset on the 500 is very short, so holding the trigger all the way back can be bad sometimes.

My 15 year old daughter has shot my desert eagl .50 without getting hit in the face. I took the time to properly instruct her an built her up to it by going from a .38 to a .357 to a .44 and a .45 long colt than to the .50

I totally hate idiots that like to hand girls or smaller people huge guns just to get their laughs on seeing what happens.

That being said for me handguns stop right around the .454 Casul range, for me it's not much fun going up from that, if I need bigger, that is what shotguns with slugs are for.

The repercussions from this have been huge. My uncles who are officers on Westfield PD said range nazi's took over and no cops are allowed to shoot there whenever.

The only woman I would ever think of letting shoot my 50 DE is my ex wife & I would tell her to hold it very close in order to see the sights better !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, that little gal did a good job, as stated above. After getting cracked in the face she kept the pistol pointed in a safe direction and finger off the trigger. I'd rather go shooting with her than her D-S boyfriend.

On the subject of double fire revolvers. This is not my knowledge, but what I've read.
It happens more with Smiths than any other revolver, sometimes Colt SAAs also.
The hammer falls, hits primer, gun fires. With the high pressure pushing the bullet out, there is a little pressure pushing back on the case and or primer. This shoves the hammer all the way back. Something (dunno what) unlocks the cylinder and allows it to rotate. The hammer comes back down (of course the trigger is still pulled back) and fires the second round.

For you revolver shooters...I bet a lot of you have experienced two dents in the primer of a fired round. I sure have and never knew what it was. Apparently sometimes the cylinder rotates the other way (w/o a double fire) and your next trigger pull lands on an empty case. I know this has happened to me with a Ruger SBH.

I was at the range last month, and I kid you not, I saw a girl (all 5-6 140 pounds) ONE HAND a D.E. 50. I asked her why, and she said thats how her father taught her to shoot.. Impressed as all get out at her.

Saw it happen once due to an entirely different issue. Shooter was extremely experienced and had a fairly high round count through his .500 at the time of the incident. Best as could be determined, halfway into his shooting session the muzzle brake unscrewed off of the revolver, and the resulting recoil and flash caused him to clench off a second shot straight upwards. No injuries, as he kept it from hitting himself...and no major damage either. Scary as hell though...

Yeh,
He was smart enough to only put one round and was kind enough to ask her to ask her to put her tongue back in your mouth.

He probably did it on purpose and made sure she doesn't get really hurt.
