I know there are some hunters in here. I know there are some archery hunters as well. I'm looking for some bow sights to check out for hunting. I'm wanting to upgrade the crappy el-cheapo sight on my Bow-Tech. I've looked at a good variety and just can't seem to drop $100-200 in the dark and don't have a chance to try them all out before buying. Please share your likes/dislikes about any recommendations. Thanks!

    Re: Archery sight

I have a Spot Hog and an older Toxonics. Both easily over $100 sights. The Spot Hog has micro adjust, the Toxonics does not. One thing I can tell you is, get a sight with easy micro adjust windage and elevation. It makes tuning and sighting in so much easier.

I will admit I'm not very current on my archery sights, so there might be better out there I don't know. But this here is a good and proven sight.

Thanks for the replies guys. Spot-Hogg sounds like its highly recommend on many archery forums as well. Both look like quality sights.

Looks like a dandy. I have no experience with 3rd axis adjustable sights. Do they make much of a difference for the average hunter? I suppose if you bow hunted in the mountains a lot it'd be pretty useful to have, when taking a lot of extreme up or down shots ??

    Re: Archery sight

I've been using the trophy ridge single pin pendulum sight for about 4 years now. I've thought about upgrading here and there, just never could justify buying another $150-200 bow sight when i keep getting hits. I really like vertical pins. I've had the itch for the G5 with the adjustable bottom pin. With one pin i can reach out to 40 - 45 yards which is my max self-imposed range.

Go to a archery shop and see if they've got any display models you can mount/shoot. You can look at them all you want but until you look through it on your bow and let an arrow fly you'll really never know how you like it.

Spot-Hogg++++ And if you have a military ID call them direct and they will give you a once a year on the most expensive item you buy at the time 40% off!!!!

    Re: Archery sight

I think there are a ton of good sights out there with a lot of positives and negatives. SpotHoggs are great, Viper, G5 and many others. Things to think about might be the pin size you want? Large sight guard or small which depends on your draw length and peep size? Do you want micro adjustments? I personally have a G5 Rock with .019" pins and micro adjustments. It has the right amount of pins (4), size I need so it doesn't take up too much of the sight picture, and it's light. It doesn't add a bunch of weight hanging off the front of the bow. I am a firm believer that when it comes to archery equipment you get what you pay for. Good luck!

    Re: Archery sight

I have a Trijicon AccuPin sight and I like it better than any other bow sight I have ever used. It is expensive, but in my opinion it's worth the money.

    Re: Archery sight

+1 one for the Spot Hogg. Abjustability is really key. The different pin sizes available are a plus especially when shooting extended ranges.

I've always had good response from the folks at customer service.

    Spot Hogg

I have the 7 deadly pins but plan on getting the Real Deal on my next bow. The micro-adjustment knobs make it allot easier than bumping the sight when sighting in.
