Last week i was able to take a rifle of mine out that previously had no really long range shooting logged. It is a 16" .308 Desert Tactical Arms cover (long name). Everyone in F/TR class thought I was dreaming when i came to the line with this thing. I kept getting jokes like "did you forget the barrel" or "Uh....what kinda bullets you shooting with that". No one thought it would reach out there but i was fairly confident after shooting quite well with it at 500 yards. After shooting my 20 rounds i scored a formidable (to me) 176/200. According to the ballistic data my bullets were staying at about 1330 fps at 1000 yards which is going sub sonic at about 1300 yards. I was using a 225 grain bullet going right around 2400 at 10 yard chrono. In addition i only used 10 out of the given 33 minutes including spotters. Only took 2 rounds before i let em fly. Just goes to prove that you dont need a 26" barrel on a 308......but a 1:8 twist barrel does help on the DTA.
