Has anyone used one of these? How does it compare to the RCBS Chargemaster? I am just wanting one for F-Class trips to dispense & then trick on to a Sartorius GD503 Scale.

I have owned a Chargemaster so I am really just wanting a comparision to it.

Thanks, Dean-o

Re: Hornady Electronic Dispenser/Scale

I personally use a chargemaster and love it. I have noticed it doesnt like certain powders but that really isnt a huge deal for me. I havent used the Hornady as I did a lot of looking into all the models avaible when I got mine and I couldnt find anyone saying the hornady or pact could compete with the Chargemaster but hopefully someone here will have some first hand for you.

Re: Hornady Electronic Dispenser/Scale

The hornady is significantly slower at dispensing powder than the rcbs

Re: Hornady Electronic Dispenser/Scale

Get a thrower much faster.
I use a lee thrower then omega trickled over a 503 I averages 22sec on my last 100 rounds

Re: Hornady Electronic Dispenser/Scale

i have one and really love it. I have not used the RCBS but am very happy with the hornady.

Re: Hornady Electronic Dispenser/Scale

I have no personal experience with any of these but I do sell them daily working for a shooting sports wholesaler. I sell primarily the RCBS Chargemaster but a close second is the Lyman DPS3. The reviews I get on the Lyman are quite good with good speed and accuracy. You might look into that one as well.

Re: Hornady Electronic Dispenser/Scale

I have the Chargemaster sitting idle while I use an old Hornady thrower and an Omega over an Acculab scale. Much faster, as the earlier post stated. AG

Re: Hornady Electronic Dispenser/Scale

Heck, I don't even trickle. I just throw and go with my old Lyman 55.

The Hornady unit is on sale right now at Grafs though, $186.

Re: Hornady Electronic Dispenser/Scale

i used the RCBS for a few weeks, but have a Hornady .. the Hornady takes ALLOT of tweaking to not make it over throw charges.... its a pain in the ass...

Re: Hornady Electronic Dispenser/Scale

I own the RCBS charge master and have been using it for a little over 2yrs now. Last week I had the chance to run the Hornaday thrower....I was very disappointed with its performance. It was slow compared to the charge master even on its fast setting. I was throwing 64 grains of H-1000 it took a little over half an hour to throw 45 weight charges. It over throw almost every throw by at least 1 10th of a grain. I'm glad I spent the extra money and bought the Charge master.

Re: Hornady Electronic Dispenser/Scale

I have had both and returned the Hornady. It is slow and overcharges are a PITA as mentioned above. Save yourself the hassle and get the Chargemaster. It is much better -- never have had any issues with it since day one.

Re: Hornady Electronic Dispenser/Scale

I run the hornady, I did 50 charges of 79.0 of h-1000...of those 50 I had one overcharge....as far as speed goes, if I were trying to break the land speed record while loading I would load everything on a dillon.....ymmv

Re: Hornady Electronic Dispenser/Scale

My Hornady just took a shit after 12 uses, I've had it for 2 months just sent it back yesterday so we will see what they say back.... Get the RCBS

Re: Hornady Electronic Dispenser/Scale

I suspect the issue with the Hornady unit is quality control. Hopefully, for their auto charge scale it will improve in the future. I have lots of other Hornady products which are excellent. Perhaps they rushed their scale to market. Mine was a complete crapper.
