F T/R Competition First focal plane and second focal plane

Re: First focal plane and second focal plane

Not sure what you're getting at on the score bit... but there is never any reason to be keeping your own score, whether two relays or three. In fact, its literally against the rules in the book IIRC.

Re: First focal plane and second focal plane

like i said, im not trying to be rude. im just saying i may not like it but will still shoot there because the guys were nice and it was hella fun

Re: First focal plane and second focal plane

It is totally against the rules to keep your own score in Registered matches, because you can set national records.

A couple years back, Bayou started holding all registered LR matches because we have members who can and do set national records. This meant of course, that we had to go to three relays; shoot, score, pits. That worked fine for the first few months but when we got into summer, it got difficult. You see, in Houston, it gets hot in summer and with three relays, we have to spend an additional hour and a half to two hours in the noonday sun. Since we advertised Registered matches we had to go through that entire year with three relays, and summertime attendance dwindled.

But we got smarter and we decided to register seven LR matches instead of all twelve and so the May-September matches are not registered and you cannot set national records. We are also able to finish the match right around noon or 12:30 as opposed to 1:30 or 2:00PM or later.

Personally, I would rather shoot in 3-relay matches, because I can concentrate more on my shooting but the extra two hours in the sun is something I am happy to avoid. In September 2008, hurricane Ike took down our 1000 yard cover that we had just put up and we had to wait awhile to get the cover we now have.

Re: First focal plane and second focal plane

when did yall re cover? google earth updated last year and i dont think i saw a cover on the firing line

Re: First focal plane and second focal plane

Let's see. We lost the cover in 2008, just a few weeks before we hosted TSRA Long Range. Had piles of debris behind the parking lot. I think it was at the end of 2009 or early 2010 when we got the new cover. It's a really nice one; all metal, corrugated sloping top, the works.

Last time I checked Google Earth one picture showed it and a closer one did not.

Re: First focal plane and second focal plane

I just checked Bing Maps and the new cover at the 1000 yard line shows up quite nicely.

Re: First focal plane and second focal plane

it was either after august or september in 09. that when i was there nust dont remember the month. if u remember me i was the guy in the red dodge magnum with his gf at the time

Re: First focal plane and second focal plane

Did you shoot F-T/R or F-Open?

And no, I do not remember; there have been many matches and people in the intervening 3 years. I don't even remember what I had for breakfast.
