Are the Burris rings or Vortex rings worth buying? I have the Leupold QDC rings and I dont like them.

Re: Upgrading rings

don`t know about the burris, but i have a set of the vortex, that came with the razor hd, they are actually made by seekins, i would check out the badger, or seekins

Re: Upgrading rings

I think he's talking about the vortex "tactical" rings for $20each on swfa. if that's the case they look really similar to the Burris extreme. that being said the Burris are good starter rings but the seekings are much better but double the price. I have not had any problems with my Burris extreme rings other than the fact they are so wide they take up more room on the rail limiting mounting options. the seekings again are better and narrower. if your budget only allows for $50-75 then the Burris will do fine. if you have 150-250 to spend then do look into seekings and badger.I have no experience with those vortex rings.

Re: Upgrading rings

I have a set of the Vortex precision matched rings. They're actually Seekins with a Vortex logo on them. Solid rings, I've had zero problems with them.

Re: Upgrading rings

Good to know, I just dont like these. Its a cheaper rifle so if the burris or vortex tactical ones are decent for half the price I think Ill go that way.

Thanks guys

Re: Upgrading rings

I think you would be happy with the Burris XTRs, I have used them in several rifles including .338 LM and .50 BMG and never had a problem with them, I replaced them with badgers and never notice any difference in accuracy, I have a pair on a AR that have been removed and replaced more than once and they haven't move more than 1/2" from original zero.
Very solid rings and hard to beat for the price IMO.

Re: Upgrading rings

I have burris XTR's on my rifle and they are solid and beefy! Can't go wrong with them and I highly recommend them.

Re: Upgrading rings

Thanks everyone, thats good news especially since they are the best priced for me through work!!!

Re: Upgrading rings

+1 to badger or seekins. I have Badger maximized rings, and i love em. great stuff. my buddy has seekins on his xcr, and they are also very good products. cant go wrong. nightforce also makes great rings, as does TPS. food for thought.

Re: Upgrading rings

The Warne tactical rings seem to be pretty good as well. Also TPS makes awesome rings for under $100

Yea, I never seemed to be able to get Leupold rings to fit right on a 1913 rail. Leupold claims they work on Weaver and picatinny bases but my experience tells me otherwise.

If you're on a budget the Burris rings would be fine but I would try to scratch up enough cash to at least get a pair of TPS. Seekins, Badger, NF, ARC, USO etc. are all top of the line. I've had all that I have listed, except USO, and Burris doesn't come close in quality.

Re: Upgrading rings

TPS puts out a quality set, they are marked so the sets go together in the correct alignment.

Get a quality inch pound torque wrench if you don't have one, that way you don't marks on the scope body.
