New 5r. Stainless. Close the bolt on a loaded round and a squawk noise on closing.
Clean, grease on lugs and bolt threads.
Only squawks when closing on a round. Quiet when empty.

Re: Noisy Remington Action

for some reason when I pull the curved thing on the bottom of my stock the action makes a real loud noise.....

Would guess this will go away eventually. Is it scraping the head when you close the bolt? Might be a real tight chamber. Are you using reloads or factory? Did you pull the firing pin assembly and clean lube it?

Re: Noisy Remington Action

Fortunately, the loud noise from moving that curved part places all the debris into the same pile on the berm.
I did disassemble the bolt, cleaned it and lightly greased the threads, cam.
I will look for marks on the cartridge head. Good tip, glad I asked.

Re: Noisy Remington Action

Have you tried it with and without rounds in the magazine?

How about on a fired case?

Have you cleaned the action where the bolt travels?

Check the top of the trigger for a small spot of rust.

Do you have a mark on the bottom bolt lug from hitting the action screw? Sometimes they are too long.

If it does it on a fired case, you can try the following at home:

To eliminate the bolt body, lightly grease it and try that.

If none of the above work and you are in the Tampa Bay area, I can try and help you out if you need it.
Good luck,
Mike

Re: Noisy Remington Action

Is it a squawk or a squeak?

Have you noticed any marks on the lugs or difficulty in closing the bolt to chamber the round?

When you disassembled the bolt, did you thoroughly clean and lube the firing pin and spring?

Have you closed the bolt slow and fast without chambering a round? If not, try this several times and listen closely to see if it makes a sound. If it does make a sound, and there is no major wear on the lugs, there is a good possibility that the firing pin/spring is dry. At least that's been the case on 4 700's that I've owned.

Re: Noisy Remington Action

Check the cartridge case head after chambering...might be a piece of crud in the ejector hole in the front of the bolt is bottoming out the ejector pin, and scraping the head of the case. Might be a shaving from machining in there. Try polishing the face of the ejector pin, if that doesn't work, you need to pull the ejector pin out, and clean out the hole in the face of the bolt.

Re: Noisy Remington Action

my AAC-SD does this too, bout to take it to the gunsmith.

Re: Noisy Remington Action

O.K. Reading glasses in place.
Cases show a scratch @ 1 o'clock 1/3 from he mouth all the way to the rim.
I cannot see that portion of the chamber without a bore scope. I can however see scratches @ 5 / 8 o'clock. This looks to be some rough chambering here.
I wonder if I should have a smith polish it or send it to the mfg. and fear I will not be getting 'accurate' services.
