So I think I got this right, I'm trying out a load with my new 7Rm hunting rifle. Basically I tried to let the increase in grains separate the holes but at only 225yds it didn't seem to give me enough separation, so I went to changing the aiming point by 2 moa each shot(2-4-6-8moa). I also tried the round robin approach.
Gun/Load Specs...Rem 700-7Rem Mag 180gn Hybrid VLD, H4831sc

So starting from left to right, I started at 10 thou off the lands, then to 15 thou off, and finally ended at 20thou off. the orange was my constant aiming point. Make sense?

So it appears that the best rounds(less vertical separation) are gonna be
63.5,64 or 64.5(At 10 thou);
63.5 or 64 at 15thou;
64,64.5 at 20 thou

Re: My First Ladder Test

The constant I'm seeing is 64 gr. of H4831sc. That seems to shoot best in each of your categories no matter where the bullet is. No need to bump that up to see how much velocity you can get. If it's grouping best at 64 gr. then see if it meets your velocity needs. If it doesn't work up from either RE-22 or H-1000

I wouldn't want bullets in the lands for a hunting rig. Your node at 64 seems good enough to work with any seating depth you tried. IMHO, I would go 15 off. Reasoning is that it gives you a good load at a safe distance off to keep from accidentally pulling a bullet in the unloading process.
Hope that makes sense.

Re: My First Ladder Test

If you have the bullets I would load up 5 at 63.9 up to 64.6 at 0.1g jumps. run them all over a chrono and see what kind of velocities and ES's and SD's you get. The vertical on the 64 and the 64.5 are equal with each other across the target. That is why I would run them on the chrono and see which has the lowest numbers.
