Being released this week is the Kahles K624i Tactical Scopes. These were debuted at SHOT and Sniper's Hide has been using one for several months now.

Many know the Kahles line of Hunting scopes. A company with a long history they have been around since 1898. Currently they are part of the Swarovski family of optics, so the quality is there right along the history.

Let me start by saying these represent no compromise when it comes to optics and design. The K624i is an outstanding optic, everything we look for in an optic is represent in highest details imaginable.

Being released in the USA by Khaybes, that is headed up by Ken Pratt and his wife Beth, their customer service has been outstanding from the start. The Tactical K624i line can be found at many dealers on the Hide to include CS Tactical which has some in stock as we speak.

Now to give you can idea of the kind of "use" I have put this scope through, above you can see all the nice shiny pictures taken here. Well currently this scope sits on my Accuracy International AE MK 3 and looks like this:

    K624i1.jpg

Double Turn Mil adjustments with a second turn indictor on top. (red) the adjustments track true and positive with audible clicks. The knob is also large enough to grip with no effort what so ever.

A feature that stands out is the Parallax adjustment under the Elevation Turret. This seems a bit odd, but is really quite intuitive. I have to say this has the most accurate, and precise Parallax adjustment I have ever used. I was floored by it when I first started using it. Fast and simple, easy to read, you can just about range with the settings as it's as close to calibrated by range as I have ever seen. And my eyes are pretty poor.

14 Mils on a single turn, and a pre-set zero stop that is .4 mils below zero.

The reticle in this model is a Mil Dot-Hash mark hybrid similar to Klein or Gen 2 but with a slight twist.

    K624iReticle.jpg

If you are looking for a high end scope to consider, this is it. They are not only available in the 6-24x but there is also a 3-12x and 1-6x version of the tactical scopes.

I can see this replacing your Hensoldt or S&B, it's that good. Fit, Finish, Quality and Durability with a history going back to 1898. Once I got my hands on this one I refused to give it, its that good.

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

Did I read it correctly, that the parallax adjustment has CLICKS every 50 meters? If so, what do you think about that? It is a good looking scope, I just may give it a shot.

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

I had a chance to look at this scope on that rifle at the Hide Cup last week. It is the real deal. Very well thought out, excellent craftsmanship. Definitely comparable to the current cream of the crop.

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

I'm really enjoying my 624i. Even at last light.
Very easy on the eye and have shot quite a few deer off-hand as well as longer ranges.

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

Thanks for the great write up Frank! I am glad that the scope is meeting your standards and without burn marks or shrapnel in it yet.... lol

    Edi,

Great looking setup, how long have you been using the K624i?

Regards, and thanks again Frank! We had an awesome time at the cup and can't wait for next year!

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

No just optically, but mechanically too... and for Tactical Rifle, precision is where it counts the most. These are the total package, not just a pretty face.

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

Really looking forward to an in depth Review.... I was really impressed with these at SHOT Show. Would like to get one out and run it at the range.

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

How much more in-depth do you want,

I am ready to replace a host of my German Glass for Austrian based off this scope. Great magnification range, parallax second to none, positive adjustments and plenty of mils to spare... not to mention you don't' see people complaining about their Swarovski PH scopes or their Kahles Helias, and those fly all over the world hunting tons of game in every condition imaginable.

I have been using it for more than a month and it absolutely rocks. Can you not need see the dirt on the thing compared to the studio shot.

Trust me, if it sucked i would have returned it and moved on, and from the first day, I knew I wasn't giving it back. The scope that was meant for that rifle is on the floor.

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

I just meant in terms of a video.... They do look like an impressive optic.

Another impressive scope in a sea of impressive scopes...would love to check one these (and the 1-6) out.

Hey, did you still want to do that big Suppressor comparison? We could meet up halfway at GAP or something. I have some ideas for it if that still interests you. Different calibers on 30 cal cans. Might be a good thing to have that info handy. Let me know!

I received the scope end 2011 if I remember right.
Used it on two small comps and did quite well at 600yds. Mainly used it for longer range fox and deer. Rifle now sold and I'll build a new ultra light tactical. The Kahles is not much heavier than my 3-12 Schmidt hunting scope.

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

Just wanted to confirm that the distance from the crosshair center to the center of the first mil-dot is indeed 1 mil. (looks longer in the pictures)

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

How is the eye box on these? Also who is doing the service on them? Is it US based?

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

Regarding the eye box, I would say seeing is your best friend. From my own shooting of the optic, I would say that the eye box is incredibly forgiving and true throughout the mag range but hopefully other owners will chime in and give you some user feedback from a non biased opinion

For service or tech questions, you can contact my wife and I at any time. We are avid shooters, hunters, and outdoors men and being located in Northern Idaho, we have the ability to shoot and use the optics nearly everyday. If your ever in Northern Idaho and you would like a demo, give us a call with a week notice and we would be happy to take you to the range for a demo.

Hell, cant beet that. This scope sounds better with everything I read.

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

Just pulled the trigger on one, I'll throw in my $0.02 once I have used it in a match or two.

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

I'd be interested in finding out what owners though of the glass quality compared against something like an S&B.

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

You'd need a machine to tell the difference in glass.. the Kahles glass is first rate, like a Swarovski PH series by comparison.

The eye box is excellent, very forgiving for a 6-24x optic... I would recommend this next to or over an S&B depending on the circumstance, especially if the dollar difference was a factor. You lose nothing in quality, but save a few bucks up front.

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

Really like this new option to us...an old name with quality glass. Any idea about the horus style reticle they offer, and when it may hit the market?

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

Handled one today, but only for short time. I’m Interested in running one through its paces. Parallax knob is a trip, but in more natural position if we weren't used to reaching to side after elevation adjustments. I didn't have a chance to verify the marked yardages to actual parallax free operation, so I'll take Frank's word on it. I thought that the felt indents on it were a nice touch. They must be pretty confident that their tolerances and built consistency are right on.

The scope seems built to compete with the best out there. It will be interesting to see how it does. With few more reticle options and some time to prove itself it could find itself being considered by many.

Glad that dag really got that scope down to you guys at K&M. I was afraid he would run off and we would never see him again (kidding dag).

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

Not only are these scopes looking fantastic, but you simply WILL NOT meet better people than Ken and Beth! I had the pleasure of sitting next to them on the plane right back from SHOT this year and it was definitely one of the high lights of my week there!

Scope looks GREAT Ken! I'm going to have to come down and do some shooting with you sometime soon!

    Thanks,

The mil4 illumnination is the center cross while the mil6 is a couple spots on the horizontal axis.

If you check out our Kahles Rifle Scopes page, you should be able to see the reticles along with what parts illuminate.

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

I got to talk to Ken at Shot, and have a good look at this optic as well as several others from the Kahles tactical line. Very impressive about sums it up. Ken is a Hell of a nice guy and bent over backwards to inform and demonstrate. He really stands behind and knows his product, and considering the excellent quality of Kahles optics, I suspect that's not a hard thing to do.

I'm giving these a serious look for my new 7wsm build.

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

Ok a quick likely dumb question. I see that this scope has 250cm elevation, I assume this is the travel of the elevation adjustment. How do I compare this to a MOA based scope? I tried looking for a conversion on google, but don't really see one...

If I did the math correctly it would be close to 103moa.

I'll be interested to hear what people think of these scopes during field use. Looks and sounds to be one heck of a scope. Congrats on the purchase!

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

I can not wait to get a little more info from people running these. I am almost definitely going to be putting this on my current build but I've gotta do my due diligence...

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

God damn it. I knew I wanted another Schmidt and Bender, but then this came along, and it's cheaper, and with Frank's review... what to do?

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

You should buy it so I can get eyes on before I buy one
    grin.gif
    , helpfull aint I.

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

Not to rub it in, but I was able to pull one of these off the prize table at the Cup. Just got it the other day and cant wait to get it to the range. That parallax adjustment is nice, and the Mil 4 recticle is sweet. This is a winner for sure!

Thank you Khaybes... Ken and Beth.

    Re: Khaybes Kahles K624i

    Hi Ken,

Great to meet you and Beth at the SHC.

Slightly off topic, but I would love to get some reviews and feedback for the K312 3-12 x 50, and I bet other Hiders would as well.

Maybe you could loan one these babies to LL for another review? Just a thought....
