Getting ready to order my Gap-10 and would like to know if there's anything you would have done different when you ordered yours?

I'm thinking .308
18.5" barrel
Surefire brake
magpul prs stock upgrade
Rifle length handgaurd
stock trigger or???????

Occasionally shooting to 1,000 yards max. Mostly steel.
Don't plan a suppressor at this time so gas switchblock????

Any help from those who have gone before me appreciated.

Re: Help ordering Gap-10

That's exactly what I have, except for the hand guard. I got mine before that one was available. Shoots like a dream. I'd get some opinions on the PRS though. It's fine for a typical day at the range, but I shot mine through a three day course and after 400 rounds that tiny, hard recoil "pad" started to hurt like hell. If you don't see your short term round count going that high then the PRS is nice.

Mine has the stock POF trigger which is plenty good.

You didn't ask, but I think the Nightforce F1 is a nice fit for the rifle and what you want to do with it.

Re: Help ordering Gap-10

Yep that's a good setup. I would go ahead and get the switch block. You WILL want a can at some point!

CNC is right, one of thoses F1s would fit nicely!

Re: Help ordering Gap-10

I did get the Geissele optional trigger. I went 6mm Creedmoor, but nothing wrong with 18.5" .308 at all. If you are going to suppress in the future the Surefire break kind of ties you to the Surefire suppressor, just something to be aware of.

Which Geissele trigger would you opt for?

How would you set it up for a suppressor in the future?

Can I run some other break and then go to a suppressor in the future?

Re: Help ordering Gap-10

The stock trigger is great. I have a 22" BBL with the rifle length handguard. I wouldn't bother with the switchblock unless you plan on going between suppressed and unsuppressed often. Once my can is out of ATF hell then I plan on having the gas tuned to the can since I'll probably almost always shoot it suppressed, and I've heard several people here that say they did nothing and it works fine with the can on or off either way. The Surefire brake does tie you to them though, but their can is great and the brake is awesome with the can off.

Re: Help ordering Gap-10

Personally I got the SSA-E trigger. Re break, you can get it threaded 5/8-24 and capped and then in the future put any suppressor on it as one option. You could get a Badger Thruster break put on if you want a break, same thread, and then when you want to suppress remove that break. It is timed and put on firmly so it takes a bit of work to remove. You could also use the R&D break which is not timed, you can put it on yourself. You could also use the Thunderbeast break, if you want to go with the Thunderbeast suppressor, there are many choices.

Re: Help ordering Gap-10

I did a 20" with the Badger brake and a Geiselle 2 stage. Topped it off with the NF F1 and used their Unimount (I think that's what they call it) that has 20 MOA built in. It's a hammer.
