Does anyone know of any manufactures/dealers who will do a full auto conversion on AR style platform with a tax stamp in Texas area? or any near states? Thank you

Re: Full auto conversion

The only way that can be done when not sold to .MIL or LEO is when it is requested as a demo from a department that is allowed to have them.

Re: Full auto conversion

ok I may have misunderstood the guy at the gun shop, I thought he said it either it had to be a pre 1986 machine gun or only a manufacture could do it.

Re: Full auto conversion

You can get one for free in the Marine Corps.

Nothing incorrect about that statement.
However, you can't own one unless it's a pre-1986.

Re: Full auto conversion

lol I'm pretty sure I don't want to go through basic again. Anyone hear about Lightning link?

Are you a troll? Seriously dude...

I can probably speak for everybody on the board here, that none of us knows ANYTHING about a "lightning link".

probably not... lightning links are fairly common... I'd bet that any SOT on here knows at least a little about them... I do

Re: Full auto conversion

Trolling? How is what I am asking about off topic? I'm asking about firing mechanisms and modifications in the Gunsmithing section Sounds like you have better things to do, then try to help someone get answers. Have a nice day turbo54.

Re: Full auto conversion

LL work with SP1 bolt carriers only, so unless you have one of those and can find a registered LL your SOL, IMHO a RDIAS would be a better choice.

Bottom line is a machine gun is an investment of a large chunk of cash, plus if you have that kind of money don't come here and bitch about ammo prices.

Yea, its a cheesy piece of sheet metal that fits in your wallet or into an AR15. Inside you wallet its worth about 15 cents, placed inside an AR15 its worth about 15 years.

(If its not papered).

On the internet, all men are men. All women are men. All children are the FBI. All people asking about full auto conversions are agents/leeches trolling for idiots to arrest so they can justify their ongoing employment. And nothing you do is actually anonymous, and never has been.

Re: Full auto conversion

Next thing ya know, someone's gonna be asking about Kryton switches for low-yield secondary physics packages.

I'd suggest waiting for just a little while longer, and you will be able to pick freebees up from the street.

The amount of folks that think they know how to employ a MG or think, they know how to run combat tactics with their tacticool trash, is growing by leaps an bounds everyday.

Re: Full auto conversion

Wow, what happened to the be nice to the new members idea?

Since this forum does not have an NFA section (other than suppressors), the gunsmithing section is reasonable.

I really don't care if he is BATFE, CIA, FBI, DEA or any other acronym gov. org.

If you are looking for a lightning link or a RDIAS check this site:

http://www.sturmgewehr.com/webBBS/nfa4sale.cgi

Be aware the last LL is saw for sale was around 17K and the last RDIAS was in the 15K range.

Also visit subgun, that is also a good site to learn alot by reading.

Best of luck!

Re: Full auto conversion

The only machine guns that a civilian can legally own are ones that were made and registered with the ATF prior to May 1986. This is due to the Hughes Amendment of the Firearms Owners Protection Act that went into effect at that time. The Hughes amendment effectively closed the NFA registry in regards to transferable machine guns. There are registered receivers, registered drop in auto sears, and registered lightning links for AR family firearms. All of which accomplish the same goal (Full auto) but by different means.

Any machine gun legally made after 1986 can only be transferred to a law enforcement agency or the military, or an FFL who is also a Special Occupational Tax (SOT) payer. The SOT would also be required to have a demo letter from a law enforcement agency.

I as an 07FFL/02SOT can make machine guns all day long, but I cannot transfer them to anyone other than those mentioned above.

I hope this helps. Let me know if I can answer any more specific questions.

Re: Full auto conversion

I had a pre 1986 conversion done (with tax stamp) on an old colt SP1. I sold it, and haven't regretted it one bit. The majority of the time it was fired on full auto was when someone wanted to shoot it, and said they would bring ammo.

In the 5-10 years I owned it, I could count on one hand the number of times anyone brought enough ammo to satisfy themselves with out asking to use my ammo. Even fewer people brought enough ammo to shoot and leave any extra with me...I don't miss that rifle one bit.
