Storm Mountain Training Center Urban Sniper Course

I just wrapped up an intense week long course at Storm Mountain Training Center. The course was the Urban Sniper Course. The lead instructors were Rod Ryan and Ed Bohman. Both Instructors were very professional and never steered off course from the course curriculum. Every day was physical with mornings starting off with the FBI sniper school qualification test and a stress shoot.

After the morning qualifications and stress shoots, Rod and Ed would instruct classes and conduct live fire exercises on Angle fire, alternate positions, UKD, Urban target detection/observation and sniper team overwatch/bounding movement stress shoots.

One of the biggest gains from this course was Rod's knowledge in glass/barrier shooting. Rod is the guru when it comes to glass shooting. He had a variety of glass for us to shoot through and we were able to analyze each shot and record it via databook and photo/video.

Rod also had us plan and execute a High Value Target Interdiction mission that took place in a town located nearby. This type of realism is what sets Storm Mountain apart from the rest. We had to execute a real time mission with proper Infil/Exfil methods, proper concealment/ urban hide construction and keen observation on the target area.

My team used a Larue Tactical OBR 7.62x51 18" with a Bushnell HDMR H59 scope and a Legion Firearms LF-15c 5.56 16" with a Bushnell HDMR H59.

My partner shot 175 grain American Ballistics and I shot M855 green tip and MK 262 Mod 1.

Re: Storm Mountain Training Center Urban Sniper Course

@GasGun judging by frog suit, tan belt, long hair, mk 14 ur using if I'm correct ur a seal sniper?

Re: Storm Mountain Training Center Urban Sniper Course

Nope, Just an Army sniper out of The Old Guard. Rod has allowed us to train at his facility for this years Army International Sniper competition.

The weapons we were using we're a Larue tactical OBR 18" 7.62 and a Legion Firearms LF-15c.

Re: Storm Mountain Training Center Urban Sniper Course

Your frog suits r just like the ones seals ware that's how I got confused. And what's difference between your weapon and the mk 14

Re: Storm Mountain Training Center Urban Sniper Course

I'm a us marine now and I been thinking about doing Usmc sniper school or going army and doing there's (only cause u get treated better) but was it worth it? Being a sniper. I'm qualified and able to go its just up to me.

Re: Storm Mountain Training Center Urban Sniper Course

Yeah man it's worth it. I'd say go scout/sniper in your respected branch because it will hold more weight. The Army sniper school is transitioning to a 7 week course and that will begin in FY13.
