Figured id ask here first, as there is some real world experience. Im needing another optic for a new 6940P carbine. I have and have used the M2/M68 and i know alot of people are switching over to the T-1/Micro optics. Before i spend te extra just wanted some input. I may use it with NV but not alot.

It's smaller, lighter, has the same features.

What's not to like?

The T-1 is going to have a longer battery life, and will be easier to mount, taking up less of a rail foot print. It is physically smaller and lighter. The batteries are much easier to find, and are less expensive.

I think the switch on the T-1 is less prone to accidentally turning onto it's full-on battery-killing position. It is small, compact, and tough. What's not to like?

The comp M3 will have a similar battery life (much greater than the M2). The M series have a bigger tube, which when shooting in awkward positions, can be a good thing.

I'd like to try out a T-1 long term (have shot with them a few times, but don't have one of my own). I am thrilled with the PROs we issue at my department - they are solid and about as problem-free as I had heard.

You can't go wrong with either.

It pretty much boils down to size, objective and battery life. With the M2, you'll get a 30mm objective over a 20mm on the T-1. Plus you'll only about 10,000 hrs of battery life on the M-2. The T-1 will have 50,000 hours. I own a T-1 and I'm still using the same battery from when I bought it 2 years ago I leave it on in my safe too at setting 7.

T1 for the win Bob! lighter and longer hrs and now you can get em in 2 or 4 MOA---perhaps you could arrange a group buy; i need 2 more

Re: Why the T-1 over the Comp M2

I went from an M2 to a T1 a few years ago. The T1 is so light that you can barely tell that there's an optic mounted to the rifle. I found that the smaller tube seems to work better with the irons if you have it set up for absolute cowitness instead of bottom third, but that's typically a non-issue. I have mine set up with folding sights and absolute cowitness now and used lower third with a fixed front sight before. I don't think I'd go back to a 30mm model for any reason.

another vote for the T1, smaller, lighter, longer battery life, it is damn near perfect if only less expensive.
