Quick detachable scope mounts?

Anyone have recommendations for a quick detachable scope mount? I know GG&G as well as Burris make some. Do they work well...return to zero? Does any manufacturer seem to make a better rig than the other. This is for an AR-15.

Thanks

Re: Quick detachable scope mounts?

larue, bobro, adm, all are good.

I prefer the bobro and larue, adm never seemed to be quite up to the same level of construction quality. Before I get flamed I can't say I've had any problems with ADM mounts I just wouldn't choose one over a bobro or larue if cost isn't a factor.

I've only ever used a QD mount on a carbine, but as far as that goes they all seemed to return to zero just fine. The bobro automatically adjusts for rails that might be slightly out of spec which is nice.

Re: Quick detachable scope mounts?

I started out using the Burris. They are ok, but they are not return to zero like they claim, more like return to 2moa. I've since switched to LaRue, Bobro, and ADM. The LaRue and Bobro are in my opinion superior to the ADM. My ADM's return to zero well, it's just the other two are more user friendly.

Mounts are another case where you get what you pay for.

Re: Quick detachable scope mounts?

I've used Larue & ADM on my 1-4 power scopes. They've treated me well. I kidna like an ADM in some ways over the larue. I am not familiar with the Bobro, I'm going to have to check em out.

Re: Quick detachable scope mounts?

Not a fanboy or anything but...
LaRue all the way! Excellent product, reasonable price. The products do exactly what they claim... and they're not overpriced like GDI

Re: Quick detachable scope mounts?

I have a Larue as well, no problems holding zero in the few times I've needed to take it off.

Re: Quick detachable scope mounts?

Because of it being the only thing I (the OP) could find that wasn't a $30 piece of junk, and I needed something today, I ended up buying a Trijicon TR125. It was a bit pricy at $250.

Does anyone know anything about this QD mount? Ever used one...did it return to zero after removal...know much about the company in general?

Thanks.

I'd like the best performance that money can buy, and the QD mount in your thread looks great. If I'm not satisfied with what I have, I might try them out.

But...the fact is, I already bought the Trijicon TR125, and I'd love to know if anyone here has used this mount and what their experience with it is like.

Re: Quick detachable scope mounts?

I like them in this order GDI, BOBRO, ADM, Burris, LaRue.
Anyone who tries to tell you their Larues always hold zero are not being honest. The Burris XD and Larue are just about the same but one cost less

Re: Quick detachable scope mounts?

I have three ADM: Viper PST mounted to Rem700, Nightforce F1 mounted to AR 308, and Aimpoint Micro mounted to AR15 300 Blackout. ADM makes awesome QD mounts for optics and bipods(QD mount on Atlas Bipod)

My larue mounts have always held zero, same as my bobro mounts.

Are you telling me that I'm not being honest?

DEEP pockets.

Re: Quick detachable scope mounts?

I have several Larue's. I use a Bobro 34mm on my duty sniper rifle and have no concerns removing the scope. Here's a test photo I did with the bobro removing the scope before each shot in a 5rd group at 100yds with a factory 700P. Even with the called flyer it was an impressive group for that rifle.

Re: Quick detachable scope mounts?

LaRue is the best in my opinion....everything I own has one and I have never been disappointed in any way at all.

Re: Quick detachable scope mounts?

Larue is 100% reliable but I went away from them for scopes about 6 years ago and went to ARMS #22 QD rings after comparing and finding no difference in repeatability after taking off then on again.

I did notice that it helps to attach the rearward one as far back in the slot as possible then clamping it. The forward one as far forward in the slot as possible then clamp it. Then tourqe the scope in.

This way the scope definatley goes back on the exact way it was before.

People who call other people liars on the internet with no proof are all card-carrying obama lovers and homosexuals.

Re: Quick detachable scope mounts?

My first QD mount was an ARMS mount on an M1A about 10 yrs ago. While it will return close to zero, it does not return to zero. Once removed the POI might be slightly high, low, left, or right. It's close, but not exactly where it was nor is it consistent where it will impact once removed and reinstalled. I have now switched to LaRue and am more than happy with it.

Re: Quick detachable scope mounts?

grey, unless I'm mistaken, that trijicon that you bought is just a re-badged Bobro. They are nice mounts and if it's the one I think it is, it's a good way of getting a Bobro at a good price.

Re: Quick detachable scope mounts?

I have used the Burris, ADM, and Bobro. The Bobro felt like a better unit. Mounting and release was easy to use and the lockup was solid. I don't have experience with LaRue so I can't comment on them.

You're right. I just noticed that Bobro is printed on the mount.

Thanks

Re: Quick detachable scope mounts?

I have a Bobro and a ADM, both work & return to zero. But its hard to beat a Bobro! If your switching your scope from one rifle to another go Bobro.
