I picked up this build from Moon on Friday and finally shot it yesterday. Moon does some badass work is all I can say.

I went about the build with the idea of being my short handy "utility" rifle. Short, fairly light (comparatively speaking), gonna deer and yote hunt with it, plink with it, and be a truck gun, be accurate out to 600 and below, be set up for a can (thats pending now) and a caliber thats readily available for factory ammo and reloading components and full build not be a bank buster. specs are-

Cal- .308
action- rem 700 (found cheap donor rifle local)
Barrel- 16.5 inch 1-10 Bartlein, #7 or "M24" contour, 5-Deep fluting, Ops Inc muzzle brake, contoured with 20 degree taper for 12th model can.
Stock- HS PSS take off stock
Bottom Metal- PTG
Badger bolt knob
Base and Rings- Larue 20 MOA base (was on donor rifle already), Badger medium Rings
Front and Rear iron sight bases
trigger- went with X-mark pro that was on donor rifle and Moon tuned it up, pretty damn nice right now but may upgrade in future.
scope- USO ST-10 Slimline MOA/MOA, MOA type 1 ret(thats how I does it)
total weight without scope is 8.4 pounds

I had Moon leave it raw because it's getting shipped this week to ARP for full paint job, so its kinda ugly right meow.

I took it to the local conservation range to run some test loads thru it. was only at 100 yards and I shot like hot garbage (hung over in 200 degree heat) but the rifle kills it. I shot a few loads of 208 Amaxes but it liked the 47.5 gr of RL-17 the best and was running at 2,475 FPS. seen here (remember I did shoot like ass and was on a full on "off" day)
target1.jpg

I shot a ragged hole with some 155 scenars I had loaded for another rifle and the beiber liked them really well, ran right at 2,600 FPS but didnt take a pic of the target like a tard.

It shot some factory 175 FGMM right at 1 MOA consistently, 20 rounds in a nice pattern at 2,500 FPS, again i feel this will tighten up alot as barrel works in and i shoot better.

anywho there it is, and FYI I call it "the beiber" for two reasons, one is cause it's a little bitch, just like beiber, and two is cause "trunk monkey" is over used and just Gay

Re: Crescent Customs "the Beiber"

Awesome rifle. I like the handiness of it. Mt Marine had a similar rifle. I was always envious of it.

Re: Crescent Customs "the Beiber"

sweet little setup, nice truck gun.....lol, lost it at "shot like hot garbage".....true dedication to shoot in 200 degree weather, hanging from the night before.

Re: Crescent Customs "the Beiber"

VJJ,

Looks good, this is the same type of rifle I have in mind right now...the ST10 looks like a good option, for my next AR scope I have it narrowed down between a ST 6 or 10...

I vote yes on the purple paint.

Re: Crescent Customs "the Beiber"

I like it and 208 amax @ 2475 is no joke, that should stay supersonic out to 1300y and have 850ft-lbs @ 1000y!

Re: Crescent Customs "the Beiber"

So, do you polish your Beiber after every use...?

Do you say Baby, Baby when you squeeze the trigger...?

Re: Crescent Customs "the Beiber"

VJJ,
Why? "Front and Rear iron sight bases"
I understand that it is for a front and rear sight, I was just interested in the thought process behind this.

Re: Crescent Customs "the Beiber"

I like it. I love the way that stock looks too that aside badass little rifle. Has me wanting to start a new build.

Re: Crescent Customs "the Beiber"

So it was you and Rob who were holding-up my FN build, eh?

Nice rifle.

Maybe he can get to mine now?!! C'mon Moon... Baby needs new rifle.

picture this, you're on the roof of your gunshop in a post zombie breakout setting. For entertainment purposes your picking out zombies that look like celebrities and canoeing their skulls with your bieber rifle. In all the fun you fail to notice a zombie has climbed the wall of the shop behind you, before you know it hes right there on you and you hafta turn your beiber rifle into a club and baseball bat the fucker's head into a mush, doing so you busted your countersniper scope. Now, what would you do now if your rifle didnt have back up iron sights bases on it and a set of irons in your tactical fanny pack?

For the record, that USO could beat several zombies skulls into mush and still hold zero.

You would go to your GDI ACOG mount because it is superior to anything Larue!

Bayonet lug, you need a bayonet lug.

Re: Crescent Customs "the Beiber"

Go for gold.....a 45 degree offset reflex sight.

All joking aside. I'm actually very jealous. That is an awesome rifle.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: jackinfl</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Thanks for answering...</div></div>

I did answer, the reason was just written between the lines. Seriously though I have iron sight bases on all my bolt guns for 2 main reasons,

1- I think it's a good skill set to practice now and then
2- shit happens, if I was to drop my rifle on the scope out of a deer stand I can throw them on and continue to hunt, not head home

Re: Crescent Customs "the Beiber"

IF i ever found myself wearing a stand alone old fart fannypack ,id tie it around my neck and jump off said building.

Real men wear fanny packs.

Re: Crescent Customs "the Beiber"

Now, that answer makes perfect sense. Moon builds awesome guns. The iron sights make great sense in that scenario.

enjoy that rifle, and thanks.

Re: Crescent Customs "the Beiber"

I was going to comment on the misspelling of Bieber but I noticed you fixed it later lol.

Personally I'm not willing to name any of my rifles after someone I would like to see go down in flames

Re: Crescent Customs "the Beiber"

That's a very cool little rifle, I'm tempted to leave the paint as it stands now but knowing how ARP's work comes out, I'm sure it will look just as cool as it shoots. Any idea on overall weight with the USO on there?

Your user title is always good for a laugh...

I'm not sure a cunthair is a standard unit of measure

Ahhh, it is indeed... and if you're looking to replicate the finest in precision, you'll need something graduated in Red CH's as they are the finest/thinnest of the cunthairs.

Re: Crescent Customs "the Beiber"

Haha I stand corrected. Im not experienced enough to have worked down to cunthairs yet.
