rifle powder can be very bad under minimum if not carefull. if under min and the case is laying in the chamber when the primer goes theres likely chance that the powder will almost all ignite at once. make sure when the case is on its side theres enough powder in it to cover all the primer plus some. hope i explained it correct. there is a powder shaped like horse shoes cant think of the name that is good for subsonic loads. it will fill the case almost completly but low velocitys. my buddy uses it to blow out the brass when fire forming.

This question is raises a lot of red flags. I don't know your reloading experience, but just using "9mm" pull down powder is a very bad idea. There are a wide variety of burn rates of powder that can be used in 9mm ammo.
Although there isn't as much load data out there for subs, you still need to use verified load data, especially with limited experience. You didn't even mention what caliber you were looking at. Other factors that you need to consier is barrel length and twist rate.
Please, refer to "Modern Reloading" by Richard Lee,II edition_
In this book you can find a entire chapter about it,and overall about the SAFE use and CHOICE of rifle powders for reduced rifle loads_you won't be disappointed_ (cheap, too)
Are there people who still think detonation with underloads of rifle powder is possible?
We have been searching for the recipe for detonation for decades, and like Bigfoot, it has eluded us.
Great to see there is still hope on SH.
