Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Just wondering what most of you do. If you resize, trim, etc... then tumble, do you resize again after tumbling to make sure the case mouth hasn't gotten out of round? I use a vibratory tumbler with walnut media, so there is always that one piece of media jammed into the flash hole too. Then I run the cases through a media separator to get all the walnut out of the cases.

Re: Resize again after tumbling?

I resize tumble get walnut out prime shoot do again.can't be any simpler.

Re: Resize again after tumbling?

What Thud said. I haven't ever felt the need to resize again after tumbling in walnut or corncob media, it's just not that aggressive. I only run it long enough to get the imperial off of it, check flash holes, prime and load.

Re: Resize again after tumbling?

yes even ran through the media separator you do not have to resize again but go ahead if it makes you feel better, you are only wasting your time bro, no mine.

Re: Resize again after tumbling?

I don't spin the media separator as if it was the spin cycle in a washing machine, just enough to tumble the cases and stop when media stops coming out of the cases. If you are concerned enough and want the peace of mind, then I would suggest just a quick pass over the expanding button only. That should round out the necks without overworking your brass.

Or you can shoot, tumble then resize, unless you are shooting BR a dirty primer pocket is not the end of the world.

Re: Resize again after tumbling?

A lot of my brass ends up in the mud, dirt, and rocks after ejection. I deprime and then tumble everything clean before I do anything more to it. Couldn't bear to run dirty brass through my dies.

Re: Resize again after tumbling?

i'm using lee dies so i deprime with the FL resizer. i alawys tumble before brass goes into my sizing dies, then do rest of the brass prep, then re-tumble to remove case lube, then primer/powder/bullets.

i only size once.

[edit] i do tumble gently in a Frankfort Aresenal Media seperator after each pass through the tumbler to get the walnut out. i dont go crazy with it and all my bullets seat fine. Since i hand seat primers i inspect the flash holes before they go into the hand press.

Re: Resize again after tumbling?

I always shoot, throw in vibrator walnut media, then size & deprime at same time. I like to clean pockets after that and then see if trimming needed depending on where brass is in it's life, or what I feel like. Then vibrate again, prime and load.

Re: Resize again after tumbling?

I shoot, deprime, sonic clean, tumble (to dry cases), and then resize. I don't use a media separator, only turn the tumbler upside and shake while using the lid with the grates.

Re: Resize again after tumbling?

Universal deprime, ultrasonic clean, store, then size immediately before loading.

Re: Resize again after tumbling?

Not an issue; bullets will remove any distortion when they are seated.

How do you remove the sizing lube? I can understand wiping it off of the outside, but what about the inside of the necks?

Goodness; NO! I doubt case mouths would be beat outta shape if you tumbled in a concret mixer if it had the proper amount of media in it.

Re: Resize again after tumbling?

deprime, tumble, neck or fl size, load. in that order unless im having a derp day

I deprime, tumble in stainless steel media, dry, lube, then size, prime and load on my Dillon 550. The Hornady One Shot lube I use does not contaminate powder so I don't try to remove it from the inside of case necks after sizing.

Yeah, this is main reason why I throw back into vibrator before reloading.

Re: Resize again after tumbling?

Well, I suppose I have been wasting my time running the cases through again. I just pulled 300 cases out of the tumbler, gonna just wipe em off, clean out the neck, poke out the media in the flash hole and load.

Re: Resize again after tumbling?

I wipe off the premier sizing wax with a microfiber towel.

I universal decap with NO BUTTON, before I ultrasonic clean. So I don't lube the inside of the necks. Even if I did use lube and a button during the decapping, it would be before the ultrasonic so the ultrasonic would clean it off.

Depends. Unless you've used spray lube, there isn't any.

I use RCBS Water Soluble case lube. It's a small bottle of liquid that's like extra thick dishwashing detergent.

I use it to dampen the fingetips of my left hand, handle the case with my right hand, and spin the case against the dampened fingers, leaving a spiral trace of lube on the outside of the case. This gives good control of where the lube adheres, and eliminates shoulder dents because I only lube the case sidewalls.

Once all the cases have been resized and recapped, I wipe the cases clean with a soft cloth dampened in acetone; which removes the lube, any Sharpie marks, and about all of any residueal neck soot.
