F T/R Competition what power scope for 1000 yrd F Class open

Hello Everyone,
I have a question for all the F-Class shooters. I am trying to get into the sport and am looking at scopes. I was wondering if a 6-24 would be enough or should I look for a higher power? 32? 50?

A Sightron SIII 8-32X should be enough.

In general as much has you can get, you can always dial back.

March makes a variable that goes to 80x and I'm pretty sure you can see the future with it, but it's out of the price range of mortal humans.

The NF 12-42 NXS is the next most popular and next in cost.

I'd get a Sightron 10-50 if I were doing it over, and I may replace my 8-32 with one. Half the cost of the Nightforce and does the job.

Get the 1/8 MOA clicks, they help dial your vertical. The X ring is only .5 MOA, if one click moves you the 1/2 the width it's a bit strong, especially at 600.yds

I shoot a 6x20 and don't have a problem. Buy the best you can afford or you will be sorry. As someone said you can always dail back on magnification but can't dail up if you don't have it.

I got the Sightron SIII 10-50x60 LRMOA. It has a fine target reticle, as I have no need to range in F-class, and can hold windage based on target dimensions.

I've owned a Sightron SIII 32X scope, and really liked it. But I had no need for a MIL/MIL optic with that kind of power, so I traded it for a 2.5-8X scope that serves me fine out to 400 yards.

Thank's guys. I have been looking at the Sightrons. I think I'll try and go with the 10 X 50. That March would be awsome but I haven't hit the lottery yet!

NF 12-42, either BR or NXS, dependent upon your budget...

i've only got to shoot 1000 yds once and can tell you having my sightron cranked up to 50 power (10x50x60 lrirmoa2)made the difference between me winning the match alot of people will tell you that it is to much and mirage will be a bitch. mirage is always going to be a bitch you just have to learn to use it to your advantange. as far as which maker is better thats up to you the only reason i went sightron is i was affraid of being over the f t/r limit with a nightforce 12x42x56. i'm currently building a 6.5creedmoor for open class and will go thru it again weighing the rifle to see what scope will go on it (currently has a 4200 elite 8x32x42) get the best you can afford .

also the 1/8 click is nice i did notice with my 1/4 click it was putting me on 1 side or the other on the bullseye i compensated by holding off and shooting .

I have the sightron SIII 8-32 and don't need anything else for 1000 and under, very good tracking scope for the money and bright image for black on white targets at known distances.

I like my 12-42x56 NF BR. With that being said I would try a 10-50 Sightron and learn to like it just on the fact of the cost, that's just me simply because I know that it will do what I need.
