Need to choose a set of dies for my 6.5x47 Lapua. Had good luck with Foresters
in the past. What's your favorite set? Thanks .

Regards, Paul

Same here

Wilson's and an arbor press currently. I'll add a Forster bushing bump die in the future. If you're looking for a set Mike had a set of Redding dies listed in the classifides for a good price.

Re: 6.5x47 Lapua dies - Advice

I started with a 6.5x47L Redding sizing die and had to send it back because it was to tight in the body which pushed the shoulder forward. Then left a ring around the body/shoulder junction when it repositioned the shoulder back on a full length re-size.

All I received from Redding was a severe case of heart burn. After over 30 years of reloading tens of thousands of rounds their VP suggested I didn't know what I was doing. I ordered a RCBS Gold sizing die and have re-sized around 3500 rounds without a single issue.

I still use a Redding seating die but will not purchase another sizing die for any caliber unless I absolutely have to.

Their customer service is the worst in the industry.

Ditto on the RCBS Gold. I use them for several calibers, and never had any issue

Re: 6.5x47 Lapua dies - Advice

The standard Forster FL set with the micrometer seater works fine for me.

Re: 6.5x47 Lapua dies - Advice

I started with Redding Type-S, but I recently switched to Forster Bushing Bump dies. I really like the Forsters because they allow you to bump the shoulder and they use bushings. My 6.5 shoots best when I slightly bump the shoulder each loading.

For seating, I stick with Wilson.

I use the forster set with the micrometer seating die. They are a steal of a deal

Love my Redding Comps. Bought my 6.5x47L's dies used from a guy on this forum and got them at 1/2 the list price, but I would pay list price for them if I didn't get lucky here.

Warner Tool. Send in some fired brass and he'll make a you a die for your chamber. You'll get plenty of reloads out of your brass especially if you anneal. I've reloaded mine more than ten times and still going. Expensive, yes, but with the cost of brass these days, I think they are worth every penny.

+1, Redding quality is hard to beat, and a joy to use.

Would love to do this one day, but for now Redding is all I have.
