Current set up:

.308
Badger Ordnance 30mm High 1.125"
Badger Ordnance Picatinny Rail 20 moa
Cheek weld insert .67"
NXS 5.5-22x56
Space between barrel and scope .40"

I am getting back down to the basics. I want to be 100% comfortable behind the rifle. At this time when I rest my cheek on the comb I get some shadowing while looking through the scope. If I raise my line of sight maybe ~.33" I will get a perfect picture. This of course strains my neck after some time. I would like to have my cheek laying on the comb like a pillow.

So I can either raise the adjustable cheek comb or drop the scope down. So I tried to lower the scope. Well the rings that I have now seemed to have tripled in price. So now I have to spend 200 to lower my scope .30" which brings it(the scope) dangerously close to touching the barrel.

My other option is to fab up a spacer in the proper size. I do not have the tooling for this. At this time with the current spacer being .67" it is still too short. So as confusing as I made that sound. What would be an easy and cost effective way to bring my adjustable comb up ~.33" to a full 1.0"?

Damned my cheek bones.

It would help to know what rifle you have. .40" between the scope and rail is a lot more then on any of my rifles.

Measured two Remmys and have .175" between the barrel and Butler Creek caps. Both have cheek pads and I really don't think I could go low enough to do w/o them.

You should be able to stack the TRG comb raisers, you will just need to get a longer screw.

Very nice rifle. Badger makes their "std" height ring that is .823" rail to C/L. 1.125" -.823" = .302" which is close to where you want to be. I know rings have gone up but what hasn't?

For me lower is better and shooting with a sore neck takes a lot of the joy out of the program.

Sell your current rings and buy the correct ones. Someone may even be willing to do a direct trade with you, if they happen to need higher rings. .10" clearance is enough for a .308.

That might be the best option. The spacers that you speak of are ~60 bucks or so and I can get it within the ballpark and trim it down to fine tune.

Thanks for the kind words. The only thing I dont like is the cheek weld

I am with you on the lower being better. I found that when you are comfortable you shoot better too. I got the rings new in 2010 for 50 bucks. Now most sites are asking 170ish. I cant see the cost of materials going up that much. Maybe I got the "good guy" price without even knowing it.

Another valid idea. I'll start kicking around the classifieds. .10" seems awful close.

You could also cut a mouse pad into strips and glue them on with rubber cement. It doesn't look to bad and will raise your comb for about .$5. And if get lower rings in the future they are easy to remove.
