Savage Aftermarket Triggers? Help me out here?

I have seen some talk about how the Rifle Basic triggers are pretty good in the Savage, but was wondering about other aftermarket triggers for the Savage?

I have the HS stocked .338 Lapua and want to know what is the best trigger out there for it. I am not concerned with the cost of the trigger either? Thanks!

Re: Savage Aftermarket Triggers? Help me out here?

People here on the hide swear by the Rifle Basix Sav-1.

Personally, I'm not a fan. I like the accutrigger better, although the over travel stop on the RB is a niceity.

If you decide you want an RB Sav1, PM me.

you should look at the triggers from sharp shooter supply.i had one in my 243ai and loved it.

OP: Be sure to research this outfit before doing business with them.

I agree with the above poster about the sav-1, I preferred the accutrigger over it. I've had 2 SSS triggers and they are far and away the best trigger for me and my rifles. The folks at SSS can be hard to reach sometimes, but are always friendly when you get them.

Anyone have a Timney for their Savage?

Re: Savage Aftermarket Triggers? Help me out here?

Timney Savage triggers are ok, but the Rifle Basix trigger is a lot better. Rifle basix makes two triggers, the SAV-1 which is basically an old Savage style 4 screw trigger, and the SAV-2 which is a system that can be adjusted to go down into the low ounces. I have the SAV-1 and find it better than the accutrigger, when adjusted right it is crisper, lighter, and shorter than the accutrigger. You basically have 3 aftermarket choices here, but they're all good choices.

I just installed a SSS trigger; it feels great, but I question it's durability. I think the design is awesome, but the construction leaves something to be desired.

I don't think there's a problem there, I have never heard of an SSS trigger failing under any conditions, use with confidence.

SSS COMP trigger.

I got to try the rb2 and the comp accutrigger beforehand and they didn't do it for me, the sss comp trigger does.

I believe Gunshack and maybe Brownells stock the SSS Competition trigger, so there's a source outside of going to Frank and Lisa themselves.

Re: Savage Aftermarket Triggers? Help me out here?

I presently have a Timney in my model 16 Savage and I like it just fine but it is no better than a tuned three screw or even a well tuned two screw. My stoned and honed two screw is one of the finest hunting triggers I've ever used.
The Timney is a ton better than the Accutrigger IMO.
Always hated the AT lever and when I invariably removed the lever the trigger shoe has that big nasty slot in it you have to contend with.
