Okay, what is the most fun handgun to shoot and why? Think hard, not most accurate, not highest quality, doesn't even have to be your favorite.

Again, just for fun.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

I'd have to say the Wildey 475 Mag, its a blast to shoot...and expensive. I fell for the "gotta have that gun from this movie". Charles Bronson was a badass in the Deathwish series.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

I'd have to say, my Russian Nagant pistol. Not super accurate, ugly, 500 lb double action trigger, slow to load, but a heck of a lot of fun to shoot and make reloads for.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

My father's Ruger Vaquero. There is something about working that single action that is appealing.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

My Desert Eagle .44 magnum. Especially at indoor ranges.

It's just such a silly thing for a pistol, but it is big, loud, and quite accurate.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

semi auto clone tec-9.

32 round mag in ten seconds...only if it wasn't a POS that jammed all the time, that's why i sold it.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

Has to be my glock 19 with Advantage Arms .22 conversion. No recoil, cheap ammo, and still uses my glock lower. So much fun

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

Ruger mkII. Cheap, fun, and with speedloaders just plain awesome! Sold a few centerfire pistols after getting one cause I found myself leaving them behind 98% of the time. It's just a hell of a lot of fun to shoot, whether at steel or squirrels.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

Fun?

For sheer fun, pleasure in shooting, for accuracy and distance and feel, I go with a S&W Model 41 SA (1997 model year) or a S&W K22 revolver (pre model 17, circa 1947 mfr).

I take my kids, and friends of the family, out to the local pistol range a couple times a year - during the week when there's no crowds or matches - and we shoot steel critters out to 50 yards.

Either of those pistols are a good match for the .22 LR rifles I take.

Challenge + friends = fun.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

Let's see...

The 4" Smith 500 with 41gr H110 and a 350gr XTP would be fun if it didn't traumatize me.

Love, love my Glock 30, so its fun.

Most fun though is probably the Glock 20 with comped 9x25 barrel. It's pretty incredible.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

My favorite is the Smith and Wesson 617, but it must be fed by speed loaders that are fed by speed loader loading blocks. It's nothin to burn up a 525 round bulk box to finish off a day at the range.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

I have guns worth 3-4x the price of my 1911s and they still get more range time than any of the others.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

I'd have to go with my c.1991 "Government Model" Ruger MkII that is threaded for my 22 suppressor.

We've had "3 brick days" with it on a couple of occasions. By the end of the day several of us have raw thumbs because I only have 1 of the loading doo-dads for the magazine buttons.

This except at thrown clay pigeons.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

A Colt Single Action Army, from the holster.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

I don't own a whole lot of pistols, but my favorite is my XDM 9mm with the 3.8in barrel

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

Hands down has to be my Browning Buckmark with a 2X scope on it. Sighted it in at 230 yards and after the rifle shooters all give hi-fives and congratulate each other on hitting the 200 yard targets I pop this thing out and start ringing the steel.

Amazing cheap lil thing that just keep shooting. Handguns have always been my favorite tool for nearly any hunting or LR shooting but this thing can't be beat for pure joy of shooting a handgun.

I wish I could own one.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

I don't have a lot of pistols, but my Ruger MkII is a lot of fun to shoot. Negligible recoil and super accurate. I was thinking about having some work done on it, but that would violate my principle that you don't touch a gun that shoots.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

Ruger KMK-512. Everbody oughta have at least 1 of em!

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

Colt Python
Great fit to my hand, great trigger, smooth action, and accurate for me.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

.22LR think mine is a Ruger

It's fun cause it's cheap and I don't have to worry about ears. Set out targets and plink till I get bored.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

A toss up between S&W mod 65 3" a revolver (for you young folks)or my Government Model Ruger MK II. Both are loads of fun.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

It depends. I've got a cut down Buckmark Varmint with a red dot that is a blast. Ringing IPSC plates at 200yds makes jaws drop. My 14" Contender 45/70 throwing a 500gr cast bullet at about 1000fps is a blast in more than one way. It knocks the hell out of IPSC plates or anything else it hits.

I agree, and I'm historically not a revolver guy. I've shot all different types of handguns, but medium to long range with a long-barrel S&W .44 mag is buckets of fun.

I'm half tempted to get one myself after having shot my family members'. I was able to tag an 8" shoot-n-see at 75-100yd with surprising regularity.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

I have a 625 that is a blast to shoot.. Something that just doesn't seem right about shooting 45acp out of a smoke wagon but its still cool and very accurate.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

This might just be the most difficult question I've ever encountered in an on-line forum. After much deliberation, however, I think the most fun handgun I own is a S&W Model 18. It's got good balance, great sights, full-size (M-19) target stocks, and no recoil. It's also accurate as hell. Oh, and cheap to shoot! What's not to like?

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

I'm surprised to see all the 22s! Lots of smith 22 revolvers.

Last year I picked up a 4" 617 10shot. Other than loading it, it's a lot of fun to shoot. Price of entry is high though.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

it would either have to be my Model 29 .44mag with an 8.375" barrel, or my 10 inch contender in .357 Remington Maximum.

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

M&P 45.

For reasons I cannot explain, it shoots FAST--faster than a 1911, Glock, etc.

Must fit me right.

Saw Miculek shoot a damn birthday balloon with one at 270+yds.

Holding it upside down and firing with his pinky at that. I thought my 5 of 7 .357's standing at 300m (I THINK one handed, off hand on hip, but not sure) into a military silhouette was cool until I saw that.

My top favorites are two, I have to separate the revolver from the pistol they just feel so different to me. For the pistol, the most fun HAS to be the Smith 1006 10mm. Easily the most powerful "standard" size pistol. Slings 180gr. slugs at 1350fps. no problem, lot like a semi .41mag. Fun to load for, just a blast. But I own three tens, so it has more to do with calibre --but the 1006 is the best 10mm there is if you ask me. By far the strongest standard size pistol frame, really overbuilt.

For revolver, my 6" 686+ no lock takes the cake. I've been told by the wife, of all people, that that one cannot ever be sold (but she's a revolver head, she carries a 649). I got it for $250 btw. Best trigger I've ever felt on a revolver, SA it feels like pressing the button on a new DVD player! DA, smooth as butter.

For me, the more accurate it is, but with a lot of bang, makes it more fun. If it ain't accurate, I lose interest very fast.

Oh, the G17L is a LOT of fun too. Damn accurate for a Glock, I shot my very first IDPA match with one and came in well over the half way mark out of 30+ shooters. I point shot half of it, the barrel is so long it is like a 9mm rifle almost.

It would be prudent to mention I have all of these, but I tend to keep the ones I like. Now the one I HATE the most, that has to be the Smith 317 aluminum snub .22. I can't hit a can at 20ft. with it. Nobody can. But hey, the wife likes it. It's a revolver.

I really want a 329PD, now THAT looks like a blast. Something about powerful handguns that weigh less than two pounds get me going.

But an integral Mk3 is on the horizon, the wife wants it too, and I bet that will be the best one bar none once we get it, simply because I'll be able to shoot it anytime of the day or night in the backyard without disturbing neighbors. And I LOVE shooting cans and bottle caps with pistols, and having little matches in my backyard will be a lot of fun for sure.

What a hard question!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I shot one of those for a demonstration for the US War College once. We had all kinds of special weapons not issued, a .50 Beowulf included. Throwing a 33rd. mag in there with NATO 124 FMJ's and doing a break ambush drill with one was something else --what, 1200rpm!? It was certainly a hit with everyone there. Fired so fast I couldn't believe it didn't jam --you can empty a 17rd mag standing before the first brass hits the ground. Gave me even more respect for the Glock.

I REALLY wish Glock would hurry up and make a rifle, and NOT an AR!

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

S&W 610 loaded with .40S&W ammo, a sig mosquito suppressed and the glock 34 9mm

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

for me the AR pistol - it is strictly for goofing around, burning up 223 loads that did not work out

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

my five seven.... I can't wait until this damn AE ammo comes out.

my favorite is doing a mag dump at 20 feet to the head. it's like a bb gun with real fast bullets

Re: Most fun handgun to shoot?

My Smith 500 with 12gr. of Tight Group under 300gr. Speer TMJ's, its very light and accurate out to 100 yards. Now, for some fun the 31 gr. of H110 under a 500gr SP are just mean.
