AK 'niper base - need help

Evening ladies,
I've decided to update the optics on my sniper rifle. Been doing lots of reading, but I haven found too many peeps who like to spend the effort getting into AK-47 into a tack-driving hammer that is worthy of the half mile club. I think I have all my bases covered except one, i need a scope base that will hold up to the rigorous torture that people like me need.

here's my setup:

Polytec milled folder - blue printed by Deadeye out of the bronx
glass bedded pistol grip and forend
Free float bulgarian dust cover
illuminated extended eyerelief optic from truglo with negative 7 mil cant
Bottom Metal is all custom made
DBM holds all kinds of banana clips and drums
all internal parts have been hand-ground by ak-pimpz out of the bronx
Barrel is 1-36 7r rifling (17inches)
Single point sling by dragco
Backup sights custom tuned by VJJ Punishment LLC
Woodgrain finish hand applied by ARP
UTG Tactical Bipod
Gas system has been over tuned to handle the most extreme situations
Folding Chassis machined and fitted by Balloon (formerly at FAP)

As you can see, I've acquired a S&B PMII that might provide me a little more magnification and get me out past the 1000 yd mark where i've been shooting so far... Really want to take it past that 1.5 mile marker. To get there, i'll need it mounted in the Spuhr mount, and i'll need a really quality base. I think i can drill it right into that dust cover. does anyone know of a good mounting system?

Here are my groups at 1000 yds, just so yall know i'm not messing around here:

This sniper system is the best in the business, and i can attribute a good deal of the credit to this site! Looking forward to learning more.

Re: AK 'niper base - need help

I was wondering if something like this could be billet machined out of titanium alloy to cut down on weight while retaining rigidity.

Anybody know someone who does this kind of work?

Re: AK 'niper base - need help

Norinco for the win. Has to be the milled receiver...has to be.

Re: AK 'niper base - need help

To the OPerator in question, what is your experience with loading tripods? I'd like to compare my notes before presenting a lecture I have to give on overwatch Ops utilizing unconventional positions and get your opinion. Do you use the one-leg-facing-the-target or two? Or the "in-the-know" off-angle loading orientation of 13 degrees, that was classified until recently. This is my personal setup:

It has served well while protecting the entrance to the Pizza Hut.

Re: AK 'niper base - need help

Ride,
I know you're mocking me, but that might not be a bad idea with the right tripod. can i get a picatinny rail installed in my handguard? where do i get a picatinny adapter for a tripod?

Re: AK 'niper base - need help

I knew I probably had an illigetimate son out there some where from back in the day with all that strange down at fort hood, Son, is that you?

Re: AK 'niper base - need help

Have you talked to the best gunsmiths on the planet ( Red Jacket ) I'm sure they would be very interested in this game changer.

Re: AK 'niper base - need help

No need for him to fool with Red Jacket......... The guys here at SH hooked him the fuck up!

Re: AK 'niper base - need help

I wanted that purple beam (should make it out past 1000 better than red or green) that Red Jacket put on the kriss. But I'll need Windage and elevation knobs. Anybody have their number?

Re: AK 'niper base - need help

taking a good second look at the pictures, the give-away for me was the POS truglo rds propped on the sight leaf and calling it a "negative 7 mil cant".

Re: AK 'niper base - need help

Just for my own morbid curiosity, are you being entirely serious are you just trying to get a few laughs?

Just asking...

Re: AK 'niper base - need help

After I'd read your post I forward it to Red Jacket and they will build me one but only better.

Re: AK 'niper base - need help

Have you put any thought in to maybe a under mount shot gun for when you have to clear rooms with it as the point man on a stack?

Re: AK 'niper base - need help

Why mess around with a PMII when you can get a contract overrun Counter-Sniper Optics tube with Beryllium Zantitium lens coatings, and US Government laser-etched markings?

OP, if you send me your filthy German, over-engineered PMII...I will tap you into some high-end accessories that will definitely extend you into territory waaaay past the half-mile club. I'll start you out with some top-notch military brass from only the best, and a load recipe I rarely share with the most ambitious Kalashnikov aficionados who are worthy of the utmost in AKuracy.

If you heat-treat that 6mm polystyrene projectile-launching quality scope mount with an uber-secret, underground gunsmith technique I'll share, your Kalashnikov mounting solutions will be so Tier 1, it will hurt.

Re: AK 'niper base - need help

Thats pretty fair for an ak with a red dot at 1000 yards. I think the rifle has alot more with a little practice.

Re: AK 'niper base - need help

Is it me or is that -7 mil cant on the scope canting in the wrong direction? Say hi to Gecko45 for us all.

Re: AK 'niper base - need help

I think he meant that his group was at 10.00 yards

Re: AK 'niper base - need help

What is the wait time for Tactical Rifles.net to shim up some Burris Zee rings for this bitch?

That's a KISS CQB/Long-range offset only used by the most seasoned killers who know the secret AK-fu. Since only the serious dealer in death operates at night, you can align the Point Of Aim with certain celestial bodies (stars), and -7 Mils lets you know that if he was using the standard inner circle SOI offset of Feces Maxis Centauri, you can figure out where his last or upcoming mission is located with geo coords, after you calculate the trajectory of a 123gr FMJ out to his intended target (He gave it away by stating he's got a hammer worthy of the half-mile club...)

Add the amount of elevation it takes to get an AK to 810m (45 degrees converted to Mils), with -7 Mils, and you're well on your way to cracking this encoded message, cleverly disguised from those who are too proud to recognize the long-range precision platform that the milled AK is...

Once you work backwards from these hints, the picture starts becoming clearer, especially with the Dillon case tumbler barely visible under the pinewood table, which has a shoe horn on it...

I've said way too much...

+1, not sure what to think of this. Sounds like a typical sales associate from Cheaper than Dirt.

He's not serious. He is funny though.

Re: AK 'niper base - need help

I built one just like that a few years ago and it was way too accurate so I sold it in parts, i didn't want to destroy the bolt action market.

Re: AK 'niper base - need help

The only limitation to you standard AK is the 800 meter adjustable sight. With an aftermarket 1000 meter sight, you will be there.

Stay thirsty my friend!!

Is that Bipod attached to the Cleaning rod?

Some where, a Mall is looking for their highest trained security guard.
