last I knew MOST federal "security" was contract security and the contracting company was responsible for training their personnel...

so probably not security guards

Re: National Weather Service purchasing .40 AMMO

Also, why use Hollow Point for training ammo?

Re: National Weather Service purchasing .40 AMMO

Maybe they're straw-purchasing it for National Public Radio?

Re: National Weather Service purchasing .40 AMMO

This was deliberately reported to be scaremongering, if you looks at the PO it clearly says OLE (NOAAs Office of Law Enforcement) and the addresses are the OLE offices. NWS has the purchasing officers the OLE does not, it doesn't mean that housewives buy match 7.62 ammo if your wife orders them online for you. Same concept.

Re: National Weather Service purchasing .40 AMMO

Big yawn.
Like the bulk here, having said tools is different than knowing how to use same.
I Do enjoy the Intel, lets me know where to resupply.

Re: National Weather Service purchasing .40 AMMO

scaremongering is one way to put it.

An unnecessary government expenditure at the tax payers expense would be another.

</div></div> Yeah every time the government buys bullets and targets for their law enforcement agents I consider it uneccesary spending too. Just like when they pave my roads, or buy trucks for the fire department to drive on those roads. I suppose you are opposed to such unnecessary expenditures as well?

Less chance of ricochet, easier on indoor backstops and metal targets, less lead vaporized during the firing process...

The federal government buys firetrucks? Great, if Obama is re-elected I guess we can look forward to a new federal department of fire prevention.

You don't think that large Federal reservations and facilities have their own fire apparatus and personnel?

Re: National Weather Service purchasing .40 AMMO

Up until a decade ago most Veteran's Administration facilities had their own fire departments. Slowly they have gone to outside contracting, but many still maintain trucks on call for first reponse till the local fire departments respond. My father was the fire chief at our local VA for 19 years, had to conduct the negotitians to put him and 14 other firefighters out of a job. The sad thing is the annual contract did not save any money, it doubled the budget. Everytime they respond to an alarm actual or false it is a 5 grand bill to send one reponse vehicle, even though the on station inspector is confirming a actual reponse or false alarm they still the get the 5 grand. Seen alot of waste in my father's years in the government, and my 17 years till retirement.
